Eric Clapton

I don't listen to much of his stuff anymore, but that Crossroads by Cream on Wheels of Fire is what first inspired me to pick up the guitar. Cream was a great band.

LOVE LOVE LOVE Clapton! Yes! He is one of the greats as far as not overplaying. "The Slowhand" only plays what needs to be said. I love old and new....have you checked out the new CROSSROADS dvd yet? I want that thing BAD. Tons of great pickers on there jamming with him to benefit his drug rehab center.

i think he's pretty good at acoustic, pretty good at singing, and very good at both at the same time. he's got some memorable songs... not my fav guitarist but up there.

To call him overrated seems unfair to me. He is not, nor will he ever be, the most technically impressive guitarist in the world. He is a blues legend. Blues fans may recognise his chops while metal fans may not. Blues fans also, however, know some great guitarists who will never get the attention they deserve.

He IS overrated. Many people claim him to be the greatest guitarist ever, when he's not. This means he's overrated.
