I have a lot of favorite live albums, and could make an argument for just about all of those that people think of as THE ONE (Live at Leeds, ALIVE, Made in Japan)....but I'm curious to know what folks consider the best live NWOBHM stuff. Especially those albums recorded during the highest point of that era.

For me, it has always come down to three, each of which I still put in (though one was released only a few years back). All were recorded at Hammersmith Odeon, though that is more coincidence than anything. In my teen years though, I used to daydream about going to London and being part of the scene....anyway, my top three NWOBHM live albums.

Iron Maiden - Beast over Hammersmith
Saxon - The Eagle has Landed
Motorhead - No Sleep til Hammersmith

Still listen to all three...and I consider each a fine document of that movement at its finest.

I think you nailed it. I cant think of anything else that compares. (In fact, that's the single greatest live Maiden release, to these ears.)

That era, if you include the late 70s, was a fantastic time for live releases.
The following records are essential, IMO:

UFO - Strangers
AC/DC - If You Want Blood
AC/DC - Let There Be Rock....Live ("movie" soundtrack of a late 79 or early 80 video)
Scorps - Tokyo Tapes
Priest - Unleashed (be it "doctored" or not)

I'd love for Van Halen to release an "official" live album from that era, too.

I would disagree that these albums from the late 70s would be a part of the NWOBHM. They are all albums of acts that were well established when the NWOBHM started.

I do concur however that the period was a great time for live albums. Here's a few more:

Aerosmith - Live Bootleg
Ted Nugent - Double Live Gonzo
Rush - All The World's A Stage
Thin Lizzy - Live And Dangerous
Golden Earing - Live
Foghat - Live
REO Speedwagon - You Get What You Play For
Santana - Moonflower
Status Quo - Live
Cheap Trick - At Budokan
Frank Marino And The Mahogany Rush - Live
Kansas - Two For The Show
Rainbow - On Stage
The Ramones - Live!

No doubt.....many of these should be on my list, too.
