Evile - Infected Nations

Vicious Robbie

Faithful Neon Dreamer
As I listen more and more to this record I can't help but think that these lads from the UK are trying hard...a little bit too hard at times to explore new territory harmonically and tehnically speaking and forgetting about writing songs and not just a bunch of start/stop parts into a mix of riffs that tend to sound disjointed most of the times. Enter the Grave was succesful in the hooks department whereas this album leans towards the technical part of things. I know they are capable players but their knack for hooks it's what got me into them in the first place. They are a young outfit so I hope they are able to find a better balance between songwriting and technicality for the next record. :erk:

This band has the right parts, but they need to bring it together. If they can mature a little more in their songwriting, they could have big things ahead (on the metal scene, anyway, which sadly ain't all that big). Or they could just be another sad case of coulda, woulda, shoulda. Time will tell.

I really have a problem with the album and the band. I didn't like the debut much because I felt it is a bit raw for my thrash preference, but it has grown on me to the point that doesn't bother me that much. Now the new album feels weak and boring, so it may grow on me but I think I'm not going to bother with them anymore. I think I better hunt down Amok "Downhill Wihout Brakes".

You want solid new thrash, I would definitely recommend checking out Lazarus A.D. "The Onslaught". If you are a fan of bands like Testament and Exodus, it will kick your ass, guaranteed. It's a strong bet for my favorite album of the year.
