Exodus-good friendly violent fun

Yup they kick ass. Bonded, Pleasures and Faboulous are my favs. I saw them in concert back in 1989, I still got my ticket stub, it cost 8.75 to get in. I also saw them in 1990, with Suicidal Tendencies that one cost 13.75.

TD, you know I kinda thought about that but I figured I was on crack, how could the mighty Pantera have been on that bill?

In 1990 Pantera just got signed to the majors. I know they opened up for both bands at some point (both ST and Exodus are the 1st home video), and I am thinking they were the opening band on this package tour. In 1991 I saw Pantera open for SKid Row and Soundgarden (actually a pretty good package for that year  ) So Pantera opening for Exodus and ST isn't a crazy notion at all. Pantera repaid Exodus the favor by having them on a handful of dates with themselves and Anthrax. They also repaid Sebastion Bach the favor and had him open up some of the shows (he sucked as a solo artist, and Skid Row sucks w/out him, go figure)

Interesting that you bring up the Skid Row, Soundgarden, and Pantera bill. I never realized that they had toured togethter at any point, but I'd always thought that Skid Row's Subhuman Race sounded like it had been influenced by Pantera, and I found some of the songs on Down II have a Soundgarden-type feel to them.

I don't know how long those 3 bands toured together, but I remember them playing Veterans Memorial Auditorium here in Columbus and some friends caught the show at Memorial Hall over in Dayton. It may have been early 1992 or late 1991, can't remember at this point. Promoters made the unwise choice of having this bill in venues with seats!!! (Pantera returned to Vets in Columbus as headliners in early 1993 - they are not allowed back, many seats were ripped apart!!!!!!!) I don't remember much abotu Pantera set, as it was only 30 minutes. Soundgarded played for an hour and stole the show.

alot of people don't know this but exodus was the most brutal metal band going around in mid eighties,i used to hear them say on videos and stuff that sometimes they were really worried about the shows as the crowds were so violent!!!

Hence the saying good friendly violent fun.

One time Baloff said he wanted to see a dead poseur (i.e. a glam metal fan!) during a show. Being the good loyal fans they were, a bunch of people at the gig went outside, grabbed a poseur off the street, dragged him up the front of the show, slashed his throat and threw him onstage. Apparently the guy survived.

One of the best shows I ever saw was Venom, Exodus and Slayer at Studio 54 in NYC. (Second only to Metallica when Kill 'Em All came out at The Rising Sun, a hole in the wall in Yonkers NY, opening for Raven.) It was brutal, (I never felt such electricity in a crowd) except for Venom who had replacement members and sounded like shit. But Exodus and Slayer more than made up for it. Scott was even in the pit moshing it up!
