Explorer vs. Iceman

I was wondering which one of these guitars you guys think would be better for playing black and death metal.

Which do you like the looks of more? They will both be more or less the same suited for death/black metal.

I would look at ESP/LTDs offerings. For the same price as an Ibanez/Epiphone they are much better guitars. Their 400 series blows most sub $1000 guitars out of the water for like $600

If you don't like ESP, Schecter makes great guitars for metal and are great values as well.

Either will be fine. Whichever has the better feeling neck and playability to you would be my answer. You can always change pick-ups and other electronics later. You could get the Iceman now and later get the cheap bolt-on neck version of an explorer by SX from Rondomusic.net and add a good neck from warmoth.com, and whatever pups you want.

I would recommend this if you like the body look:

LTD EX-400

For something more exotic, there's always the AX-400 and F-400
