Guns n' Roses withdraws from My Coke Fest

Coca-Cola South Africa, in conjunction with its media partner, 5FM and My Coke Fest organizer Big Concerts, regrets to announce that Guns ‘n Roses will no longer form part of the line-up of the music festival taking place in Johannesburg and Cape Town on April 27 and May 1 respectively.

Guns ‘n Roses were forced to postpone the second leg of their global tour including appearing at My Coke Fest, due to an injury recently sustained by the group’s bassist, Tommy Stinson.

Commenting on his injury, bassist Tommy Stinson said: "I feel so bad right now. I accidentally fell down a flight of stairs. I put my hand down to break my fall and heard a loud 'pop.' The next morning I went to see my doctor, and the bad news is it's severely sprained and I may have done some ligament damage. I feel horrible.

“We'd like to apologize to our fans who were looking forward to seeing us for their patience and support."

My 11 year old brother comes up with better shit than this.
Fuck the whole lot of them !

$85.00 for GNR? Sorry to LMAO Zeppie, but for me $85.00 has to be at least three bands out of Motorhead, Judas Priest, Saxon, Iron Maiden and/or Black Sabbath (aka Heaven And Hell)to attend.

I'm with Wyvren on this one. If I'm gonna pay that kind of scratch to see a band, it's gonna be for 2-3 of my favorites on the bill.

While I am (or rather was) a die hard GNR fan, I can't figure out why people are so adamant about seeing Axl again? He's a great front man, but without Slash and the gang with him, what's the point? Seems like a rip off, especially given the price of tickets.

Zepp recall the post I made about being cautious about shelling out the dough for the ticket? It's a bass player, I like how Axl picked the bass player to throw under the bus. I'm sure Axl could have gotten one of the many bass players he's used to make the gig...

1. Not a surprise

2. They (or really he) could of gotten a replacement bassist... it's not like their bass parts on GnR's songs are difficult to play...

I don't think that's $85 for just GnR, it's a festival.

You're right, the rest of the lineup includes Evanescanse, Three Doors Down, Hooberstank and Staind.
I dont really like any of these bands enough to pay that kind of money, it's just the priciple of things.

Luckely Computicket announced that they'll give a full refund should you wish to return the tickets which is what I'll do.

I'm just pissed off because so little good bands ever come 'round this way so I was realy dissapointed to hear this, I was realy looking forward to see Axl scream to some old tunes.

Yes I remember you said not to get my hopes up, but I've read an interview with Axl saying he's very exited to come to South Africa, I thought if he feels that way he would have made some effort.
Perhaps he was just bullshitting from the start.

That's a shame Zep. Axl did basically the same to me way back before they broke big. They were headlining the Celebrity Theater in Phoenix. They got about six songs in or so, Axl biffs his mouth on the mic while spazzing out, like he does, and never came back out. We didn't get a refund and I swore I'd never see them again. I never have.

I don't know why people keep bothering with them... they have dissapointed their fans for years without a care... and yet people keep hoping. THAT SUCKS ZEPPIE!

You believe what rock stars say in a interview? ... they mostly are doing PR so their fans will keep buying their records and coming to their shows... but anyways even if GnR (and I call them this name loosely since really it is now the Axle Rose Solo band) bailed out why didn't the show go on with the remaining bands? imo they have more fans then GnR does nowadays...

What a cocksucker. I hope he gets a monster dose of Karma coming his way for this nonsense. I'm sorry you shelled out money and I'm sorry he let you and the rest of the fans down.

Axl pulled the same shit here in Maine,U.S.A. a couple of months ago.

as discussed-the bassist probably WAS the one thrown under the bus!

either that or Axl tells his "at the moment" band to behave Axl's way-or else

Axl is capable of a damn good performance-but then he falls off the rails before the next couple of gigs

what an asshole

I vote for Axl as the new vocalist in Van Halen. That way if their cancel a gig it'll be two birds with the same stone :heh:
