THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN guitarist Ben Weinman recently conducted an interview with FAITH NO MORE singer Mike Patton for Weinman's newly launched PartySmasherInc.com web site. You can now watch the chat below. Patton was the featured vocalist on THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN's third EP, "Irony Is A Dead Scene", which came out in August 2002 via Epitaph. The material included on the effort was recorded after the departure of THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN's original singer, Dimitri Minakakis, but before a replacement (Greg Puciato) had been chosen. The plan to record with Patton was in place before a replacement vocalist had been found. By the time Mike Patton had recorded vocals and the EP was released, the band had been touring with Puciato for nearly a year. FAITH NO MORE recently hinted at the possibility of new music 17 years after the release of the band's last LP, "Album Of The Year". The group made a comeback in June 2009 with a headlining performance at the Brixton Academy in London, England and has played sporadic shows for the past few years. "Happiness Is A Smile", a brand new song from THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN, was made available on limited-edition colored seven-inch vinyl via the band's merchandise table and as a cassingle through the group's VIP packages during THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN's U.S. tour, which kicked off on April 3 in New York City. THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN's fifth full-length album, "One Of Us Is The Killer", sold around 15,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 25 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD was released on May 14 through the band's own Party Smasher Inc., in partnership with Sumerian Records in North America. Party Smasher's partnership with BMG covers the rest of the world, including licensing deals with Grind House for Japan and Remote Control in Australia.
