d00d! Sam's from Arlington, VA - my hometown! It was a shout out to transplanted DC area people as much as anything else.

Of course you, and anyone else, can talk about DC bands here!

There are an awful lot of people being dead to each other on this thread. Is this what people refer to when speaking of death metal?

Things are alright, Josh. Nice to see you feeling better.

DId you know that Scott Hull is actually from MA, and worcester of all places too, that's why he was in agoraphobic nosebleed and anal cunt. I think I remmeber something about treblinka, does anyone ahve any mp3s or anything of that scott hull band, japanese car wreck show or something along those lines?

p.s. The name of the band i'm in si strangled with a halo...i.e. I'm a big pd fan

Nagle: Sorry for the late response. Just got back from vacation.

Crom Tech: Never managed to get into them or even hear them. Heard they were tech metal. That's all I know. Did listen to Cornelius, though, who were actually Richmond era, but an interesting metal/hardcore fusion thing.

Amalgamation: Can't say I ever really cared for them. Jacob's a cool guy but he seriously sounds like some sort of crazy ass bird when he screams. I went to HB Woodlawn! Any shows Amalgamation would've played there would've been far after my time there. Never heard of Underneath or Apsera.

De Nada: I believe that Kwisatz Haderach played a show with them. It was in Geoff's basement. At some point there was a concern that the singer would urinate on the floor. Geoff said: "Not so much with the peeing on the floor." I think I saw them very early on and they were just fastcore grind stuff that didn't impress me. That's all I know about them.

Treblinka: Kwisatz's second show was with Treblinka and Assuck at Club Soda. The singer at one point got made fun of by one of his friends for wearing sandals, and he called him "a fag". Todd was displeased and spent the remainder of their set heckling them with things like: "Turn up the slurs! More homophobia!" I remember them being just OK.

Actually, I liked Amalgamation specifically because Jacob sounded like a bird. I also went to high school with their bass player and that's kind of how I met Forbes.

De Nada was never really any good until pretty late in their existence but their last bunch of shows and the final 7" were smokin.

About Treblinka (and Hoffman's heckles), I think it's kind of funny that the dude would call someone "fag" then and later appear onstage in Pig Destroyer tearing off a long-sleeve flannel shirt only to reveal a Morrissey t-shirt from the Vauxhall and I album underneath...

My only heckle at Todd Hoffman: When VBL and Thoughtstreams played together around this time last year, I called them "Todd Hoffman and the Grind Messengers". He and I live in the same city but never see each other really. Since the end of Thoughtstreams, I've become horribly out of touch with punk and indie since I never really go to those shows unless I'm playing them. He's got a new band he plays drums in called Fighting Dogs that I should go see sometime.
