I can't have a cranked 4x12 in my apartment so I'm looking for a good sounding combo for practice and recording. Inexpensive is good, but quality and versatility comes first as I freelance and would like something I can also use with my clients.

Anyone have suggestions? I was thinking getting a Boogie combo, but that is a little pricey. I'd like to find something under $1k.

you could find a boogie mark seires, or caliber series on craigslist for under 1k easy. I love my 5150 combo, although it's alittle large - it sounds good at low volumes. the Peavey valveking 1-12 isn't bad either.
