The 70s and 80s were full of 'em. Some were totally cheesy, but loads were totally memorable. My personal award goes to Eye of the Tiger. Perhaps because I'm all for William Blake.

Tyger! Tyger! burning bright,
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

I wish this song would spontaneously cease to exist. It's not the song itself that I hate... it's that it comes on EVERY time I go into any bar anywhere, and everyone in the room starts singing along terribly, or any time it's brought up in conversation, someone starts singing it.... terribly. Everyone talks about it like it's the greatest song ever and it seems no one can do it without actually singing it also.

That dude has a righteous voice and it's on full display in this song, but I really hate what it's become. I guess for the sake of this thread, it really is the perfect answer... but that's the biggest factor in why I wanna run and jump off a cliff every time I hear it now (which is unfortunately every single day, a few times, as I sit here at work listening to a radio station I can't change).
