favorite movie directors

Hard one, because there are many directors who do great movies, but then do a lot of crap too and I don't know many directors either.
Steven Speilberg (Yes he has done a lot of crap that was just meant to attract dumbasses, but he has done a lot of quality movies also)
Mel Gibson (Yeah, I know what you are thinking "He's an actor not a director" but I have to give him this one for Braveheart, and I also believe he did the Patriot.)
Peter Jackson (Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, even better than the first)
Hayao Miyazaki (Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro)
Quentin Tarantino (You can't mention movie directors without this guy)
Shit, I can't seem to think of any more.

he's my favorite director not only because of the awesome LOTR series, but from his previous work even more. he's done gore/horror/comedy, comedy, drama, etc and all of them perfectly fit their respective genres. i now seriously believe that this guy could make an entertaining movie about the british stock market. . . the guy's that good

the guy who made "Ben Hur" , i dont know its name .
franco zeffireli ( the spelling is definetaly wrong)
and peter jackson because:
he made a top gore film :Braindead
he made some weird anti-hollywood stuff:Sirens
and he made the Lotr trilogy wich is a masterpiece until now...

Tim Burton and Kevin Smith are two that I couldn't think of. I guess I should pay more attention to the directors of the movies I watch, then I might know more.

CC Demille did Ben Hur. And Dean Devlin and Roland Emerich did The Patriot, not Mel Gibson. You may remember them from ID4, the horrible American Godzilla, Eigh Legged Freaks. They basically ripped off Mel Gibson's directing style to make the movie he starred in. Pretty fuckin' cheap on their parts, if ya ask me.

Ok, I didn't know who did the Patriot, I couldn't remember. Again, I don't really pay the ending credits enough attention.

the coen brothers.

Sam Raimi. I found a bootleg copy of "within the woods" (demo creatin pre- Evil Dead done as a promo for investors) yesterday. Bruce does good as a possesed Demon too. His possesed part in ED2 was to short. Crimewave by Sam Raimi was another favorite even though no one else liked it.
