heja,

I just discovered yesterday while i was looking through some old stuff of mine, that i´v seen Opeth (I actually don´t know much of them) 1996 with Cradle in a very small club and Opeth were the small band before the relatively new Cradle. The Concert of Cradle was great...Anyway...my idea was:

Which were the most intense/best concerts you´ve had?

my ones without order:

Cradle/Opeth 1996
Tenhi Wave Gotik Treffen 2001
Dornenreich accoustic & Tenhi 2001
Project Pitchfork & Rammstein 1995 o_O
Siebenbürgen Loreia Tour
My Dying bride (1996?)
The 3rd and the Mortal 1996 (?)
Estampie 1996
Negura Bunget 2005

The Ocean, many times but the best one was comparatively their crappiest on a technical level. See here for a description.

The Silver Mount Tra-la-la
had a lovely performance in Cologne two months ago, I felt deeply involved and drawn into the music.

Finally, I should mention The Gathering for putting up a beautiful and intense live atmosphere (Cologne, 2001)

I've also attended an Isis show (Cologne, 2005), which was presumably awesome but I was too sick to appreciate. [EDIT] Actually I liked their 2004 gig better, 80% "Oceanic", smaller venue, and "Weight" on stage = aaarggghhggg&&&812är##sdf..ppfffffsssh.

And Burst on their 2006 tour are the band which occasioned the nastiest scars and bruises on my delicate baby skin.

Oh yea, and Tenhi/Dornenreich on their acoustic journey in Leverkusen, 2001. Uncommon and awesome, both of them.

10.Dredg
Last show I went to with close friends. That deserves a spot

9.Red Sparowes/The Evpatoria Report 2005
Both bands were quite good although the sound wasn't that great, ok venue. Good memories of that one. Ellestin was there too.

8.Cult of Luna/Judoboy/Ataraxie 2004
I was still in CoL at that time. Salvation was to be released the week after the show (it sold at the show anyway) and few people, even among the downloaders , knew of it. The opened with 'Echoes' and time stopped until the very last note of 'Into the Beyond' . Talked to forum mates after the show, they had the same 'coma' impression that I had, everything went so naturally. Very special show.

7.Sigur Ros/AmiinA 2005
That was quite an experience the first time I saw them. The second wasn't half as impressive as the first and kind of ruined my memories. That's not very honest to look at it now as I almost cried during that show ..but anyway I've attended better as I speak.

6.Isis/Jesu/Dälek 2005
Aaron Turner says that a record is not able to capture the energy that Isis produce on stage. He's damn right. The band is impressive, great sound, great performance, honesty and involvement in the music. You can say what you want, you don't stay arms folded at an Isis show.Intense.

5.Mourning Beloveth/Mar de Grises/Ataraxie/Inborn Suffring 2005
Mar de Grises stole the show. A european tour is quite a crazy entreprise for them. It was damn worth the price. Intimate, magic, sincere, emotionally powerful.. the venue was filled with 50 people at best, each with the feeling of attending a one-shot live experience. Keyboard/singer in front of stage, he looks like a reptile, rattling. Impressive man behind the kit too. They played the first four tracks and the last of The Tatterdemalion Express + the third of the EP I think. I'll never forget this one. Singer of Mourning Beloveth was drunk during the show

4.Isis/Final 2006 (London)
Oceanic from beginning to end, beginning by the beginning and the end :loco:
In fiction as an encore. Only 4 years have passed since the release of Oceanic. I can't say I wasn't hit by a bit of 'nostalgia' during the show. 'Weight' :worship:

3.Overmars 2006
Horror on stage.

2.The Ocean Collective (Fest in Germany /w Gayllestin (not sure if there is a copyright on this))
Not only this is the best band I've ever seen live but they had the singer of fucking BREACH! Worst part of the show : I didn't know Breach at the time. They did 4 covers appearently from 'Venom'. Still, I can say I've seen 'Nazca' 'Isla del Sol' and 'The Greatest Bane' twice! (see below)

1.The Ocean Collective 2006 (Paris)
Aeolian has been released meanwhile. Aeolian slays. Even more live. Goodbye.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990)
Tool and King Crimson at Red Rocks, Colorado (2001)
A Perfect Circle (2000)

Tool w/ Tomahawk & someshitz Aug 25, 2002 at Copps Colliseum in Hamilton, Ontario = #1 by a long shot!

That band just has the most insane atmosphere in a live setting... like the songs take on a whole new level of asskickery!

In no particular order (save for the years):

1988 - Monsters of Rock
1996 - Kiss Reunion Show
1998 - Iced Earth (tiny club in front of about 30 people)
2000 - Iron Maiden Reunion Show (had front row seats)
2001 - Wacken
2002 - Progpower III
2003 - Wacken
2004 - Sweden Rock
2005 - Progpower VI
2006 - Heathen Crusade

Heathen Crusade

Morbid Angel with Behemoth, Vincent's vocals were better than the year before, played a great set, and I was right in front of Trey.

Suffocation and Behemoth because I saw them in a Bowling Alley! :headbang:

Fuck yeah! Specially the stage was set up and only four inches tall, almost like a house show for a grind band.

I thought MoR sucked. Metallica kicked ass and Kingdom Come was cool. Other than that, it blew.

PPVI? Really? You hated Strat and Angra had an off night. You were dissappointed in Manticora. I didn't think you were much of a Conception fan and we skipped Therion. What besides OL did you care for?
