Hey guys!

Currently working on a song with a friend and I'm really trying to improve my overall mix and especially my drum mix, since I don't often get to mix real drums. I really wanted to avoid using samples in order to get as much practice as possible without taking any shortcuts - I'm pretty happy with it so far:

Drums+bass+rhythm guitars: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/6017642/Instrumental 100715 drumsbassgtr.mp3

Drums only: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/6017642/Instrumental 100715 drums.mp3

Let me know what you think and how to improve from here

Cheers!

Hi, there are minor problems in the drum track, especially about fade in/out and the joining of clips, that affects continuity. But in the whole mix could be unnoticed.

- 0:06 it's a joining problem (unnoticed in the mix)
- 0:23 one cymbal stops drastically and start with another sound (noticed in the mix)
- 1:24 it have a rare noise (noticed in the mix - need to be fixed)
- 2:35 stops too drastically (something of own taste)

About the EQ of drums. I prefer a kickdrum with more presence and beater, and a snare with more punch and high-end. Toms hears behind of the kit, need to be more in front with the snare drum.

Thanks man! I realize there are a few problems with the edits - unfortunately they were not done by me, and I don't have the unedited tracks, so I can't really correct them easily (if it proves to be a problem when getting to the final mix, I will have to come up with something). The part at 2:35 is intentional though, as there will be a lead playing there.

Good call on the EQ - I will definitely try to bring out a bit more high end on the shells :)
