those brentwood box sets dredge up titles that haven't been available anywhere, for years. some are tv movies from the 70s that were never released on vhs, etc.

i've never heard of lukas' child, and i'm wondering if it's a re-titling

shut up avi. before you even fucking start.

and, yeah, these are totally those Brentwood things. what a great idea, really. i watched one with no sound, partially, while cleaning my room, and it's the kind of movie i always wanted to make in high school/college, totally low budget with lots of satanic symbols and horror cliches. sigh.

i think that was unclear. HORROR RISES FROM THE GRAVE is the comp included HRFTT, ZFE, ZHH, and NOTG. SPAWN OF THE DEVIL is the comp including THE SCREAMING, HELLSPAWN, NIGHTCRAWLERS, and LUKAS' CHILD. LUKAS sounds pretty cool:

Lukas Armand, a skull-faced movie producer, is auditioning lovely young starlets for his upcoming low-budget horror pic. The girls are delighted to learn they've been chosen to star in the film until Lukas' creepy gofers: Jason (sic) and Mad-dog kidnap the actresses, one by one, and lock the terrified girls in somewhere in (sic) the bowels of the film studio.

ohhhhhhhhhh SHIT.

OMG.

lukas' child, then, is a re-titling of a movie called THE DEVIL IS HUNGRY, something i bought from a graymarket trader back in the early 90s, based on the title alone.

i couldn't believe what i was watching, as i watched it.

and that thing is actually pretty rare. it's not in many horror reference books...

so yeah there's another bwood set that just came out called the dead walk or something. these sets are announced but no one knows the titles that will appear on them until they actually hit the shelves.

oh, neat--i want to buy more of these bwood things.

i watched the first half of HORROR RISES FROM THE TOMB as i was drifting off last night and i liked it--but the title screen refers to it as HORROR FROM THE TOMB. these re-titlings are driving me crazy. supposedly one of those films may or may not be a ZOMBI movie? or shares a retitling with one of the ZOMBI movies?

HRFTT has the opening with the witch getting suspended upside-down, right?

"zombie flesh eaters" is zombi 2, aka ZOMBIE, aka awesome.

zombie hell house is by the same director, fulci. aka "house by the cemetery".

fulci is a book. i can't describe his style, you just have to watch his stuff. rent or get THE BEYOND or GATES OF HELL and drink it all in.

zombie flesh eaters/zombi 2/zombie is probably his "straight" film. yet... that's the one with the epic zombie/shark fight scene.
