I will never, never ever get it. I can't understand why people are so amazed by those guys. Of course they are amazing guitarist but in the end there is nothing magical about it - just the investment of a whoooole fucking lot of time (and a good, expensive teacher most of the times). I always wonder if they had any childhood at all. I really respect their work. Still I don't like it.

I prefer a good riff about a unplayable "WOW" solo. But that's just my opinion so I hope no one feels attacked by that.

I agree with you!
When i started to play guitar, i didnt have any interest what so ever in playing solos, because i thought(still think), that the riffs are the most important.
Although, a good riff, with a kickass solo over it is unbeatable(*cough*Pantera*cough*).

and alejandro silva has very awesome riffing over his songs, thats why he is so famous... is not borring as you think and thats why he was invited by satriani to play at the g3 here in chile with vai (search more in youtube)

also, most instrumental guitar pleayers in europe doesnt have live bands... always with backing tracks, at least there "studio albums" if you can call it like that ,

I thought forums where made for expressing your oppinions, so what you are saying is that you shouldnt write in a thread if you disagree with something?
Well, that would probably mean that more then 50% of the forum activity would go down the drain.
And do you also mean that youre not allowed to give critisism to it?

And not to be rude or anything, but Alejandro Silva is not famous.
Sure, he might be known amongs some guitarists, but that does not make him famous.

I listen to lots of music, and i actually enjoy listening to this kind of guitarists too, i believe that every single piece of music that has ever been made has something to offer for everyone, still not granted that i have to like the music.

Im not saying these guys make bad music, that would be stupid, but i dont get that much out of constant soloing, i think most of these "highclass"shredders have forgotten to let the music "breathe" once in a while(Petrucci excluded though ).

yeah right. dude. as I said I totally respect those guys. and this is in fact a forum. I said I don't want to flame anybody. I just wrote what I think about it and that I don't get it.

Get used to it because I wont stop writing my opinion just because someone dislikes it.

If I shall stop watching those videos (I didn't knew who he is so how can I know what he's doing in the video...) you should stop reading my posts.

And by the way... I never listened to pantera because I dislike their riffing.
