Final Ashes test 2009

Yeah they'll probably win. It's one wicket down already. Cook's been in shit form. Now Bell's in.

the test is at "the brit oval"...WTF is the brit part, thought it was always knows as just "the oval"

Hmmm 175-2 now. England on top, but it's a flat pitch, even if it's breaking up. Why didn't Australia play a spinner?

statistically last season, the best aussie spinner in the country was greg matthews.....lol

he still plays 1st grade cricket for sydney uni, but doesnt wanna play first class stuff anymore

That's the good thing about cricket - you can play it forever!

England are building up quite a lead now. It's going to be pretty hard for Australia to even get a draw at this rate.

And quite frankly, they've got no-one to blame but themselves this time. Alot of people are blaming the pitch and the conditions (admittedly, the rain on the second day did liven the pitch up during Australia's innings) but if a debutante can score 100 (Trott) and not a single one of our middle order batsmen score over 10, there's something wrong with the way we're playing

What I find so incredibly frustrating is that if the selectors had the balls to pick the right players in the first place (Stuart Clarke), we probably wouldn't be in this position. Our inability to bowl out the tail in Cardiff fucked up this series! That game should have been a run-over after the way we batted!

The issue isn't the run rate... or even the amount of runs (in form, we could easily make it)... the problem is that NONE of our batsmen really look confident enough or in good enough form to dominate the attack

Hussey's not even half the player he used to be. It's quite strange really.

Australia should have gone with a specialist spinner on that wicket. North's done pretty well though. I like that guy; he seems a decent sort.

Gilly wasn't great in the second half of his career either. Lucky he and Hussey had such excellent first halves so their averages are still very good.

Lets face it, Huss had an average ove 80 with gily in the side, post gilly....less that 30

I agree, he should be dropped and play North as a designated batsman and McDonald as the alrounder. The dude bowls stump to stump and takes it either way off the pitch. In english conditions its a no brainer

He has played 4 tests and been on the winning side 3 time. At least give him a run and see what happens
