Fireball Ministry - Their Rock is Not Our Rock

I saw this band open for Opeth last year, and it was far from an impressive performance. They follow in the footsteps of Black Label Society and others of the stoner rock style. Bland and boring to put it bluntly. The grooving guitars and the raw, deep throat vocals attempt melody, but only the guitar solos reach their potential every time. All that said, why am I starting to like it a little after a few listens? It gets me moving. Structurally, the songs are well put together with clear-cut riffs, as simple as they may be, and the aforementioned solos are appropriately placed. Again theyre very basic, but obviously fitting for the songs.
There are two guitarists in this band, and its disappointing that they dont utilize all that a second guitarist can offer in terms of adding some much needed substance. She (yes, she) doesnt seem to have much purpose in the band, simply playing the same exact same thing as the other guitarist the entire time. She supposedly sings backup vocals as well but I do not hear her. A female in a rock band can add so much more than simply being a blonde in a miniskirt with a guitar around her.
The vocals turn me off from it all. Though typical for this style of music, it is not my idea of enjoyable. Its fair to say that Fireball Ministry are decent musicians that stand up well in this vein of rock, but not only were they an inappropriate band to open for Opeth, they did nothing for me other than provide a good beat to sway to.
