Hey Gang,

First off I have to say thanks to Glenn for suggesting that I get their cd last year. Once i put their last cd in my player, I was hooked. I then picked up the disc with Chity singing and love it as well. Firewind's performance at PP was amazing and I hope they will come back and get to play a little longer. Did most enjoy their show as much as I did?

I just picked up Firewind's newest disc The Premonition. After 3 spins, I love this disc. The production is great a little cleaner than the last outing. I think Apollo sounds even better this time around. More Key solos and they are very tasty. The drumming has improved and the drums are really high up in the mix. The guitar solos are fantastic but I come to epect that from GUS G!!

HEre is what I like

Guitar tone
Darker sound
Heavy parts are really heavy
Great vocal melodies
AWESOME COVER OF MANIAC!! GOOD JOB GUYS!!

What I miss

Only nag I have on this one is that I don't think that Gus totally let it rip with the solos this time out. I felt like he was more reserved on the solo dept.

I also miss the instrumental.

Overall, I love this disc and like it better than the other two that I own. If you are a fan of Firewind, this is a no brainer. This will stay in my player for a long time. This is the kind of stuff i love.

What I do wish. The first song on this cd totally slays. Into the Fire is a great song. I would love it if Gus did a whole album of songs like this. I love his heavier stuff.

Glenn, thanks again for introducing me to this awesome band.

Replies welcome, I always love to see others comments.

Thank you,

Brand

That's a good point about the instrumental...there's been one on every album till now, and they all kicked ass (well, Before The Storm was mellow, but great nonetheless). Ah well, a minor quibble...this is probably my 2nd fave Firewind album behind Allegiance.

I believe I'm one of the few people on this board that wasn't overly impressed by Allegiance, because I love their earlier catalog so much. I felt like Allegiance was a little watered down compared to the rest of Firewind's efforts. With that said, I still enjoy the disc and I'm guessing they've stuck with that same formula. I did see a video from Firewind played on last week's Headbanger's Ball which was cool to see and the song itself was solid. Most likely this disc will be a purchase in the very near future. :kickass:

I was a bit put off a few years ago when Gus G announced he was going to be only concentrating on Firewind. After two consecutively consistant albums(huge understatement BTW), i'm glad he went this route. The Premonition has not left my player since I picked it up a few weeks ago. This is Firewind forging ahead in many ways. They definitely went into a darker territory, yet its very accessible, enough to shake some heads here in the states. Can't wait to see what these guys do next, and i'm hoping to catch the Arch Enemy tour so I can finally see these boys live.

fixed your error. :p

It does sound like Allegiance, but I loved Allegiance so of course Im gonna love it.

+1 :headbang:

Allegiance was one of my favorite discs for 2006. Couldn't take if out of my player for a long time. Easily the best produced and mature record to date for Firewind. And I love Apollo's singing. As for Premonition, totally dig it and very much in line with Allegiance, but at first impression of the two, I still prefer Allegiance. And it would of been cool if there was an instrumental. But given that this is very much in the same vien, very pleased and it kicks ass! :headbang:

It does sound a lot like Allegiance, but I can handle 2 albums that sounds similar. Especially when they are as good as these two are. Now if they make the next one sound as similiar I may have more trouble getting into it. I would for sure like to see these guys back at a higher slot though.
