Barter in Blood - "Wake of Vultures"

Filmed in a half hour in my studio, never shot a music video before, thoughts?

Fun video! I like the random "Fucks". I can't think of a better thing to say during a "breakdown" though. Pretty cool video for being done in a half hour, and all in one room.

The only thing I can say though, and this is on the band, not you, is that I think it should be a requirement that one's hair should be at least shoulder length if windmilling is to be attempted.

I think it's great! I like music video where you actually see musicians play their song. You just had to spend another half hour on it. :) Remove static shots of the drummer. Color corect some parts. And you should have made a wide shot of the whole band on gang vocals part.

Not bad at all if it was done in half an hour - the only criticism I would level at it is that it lacks energy - I'd say, film the guys playing through the song again a couple more times, and ask them to really fucking GO FOR IT while you're filming - then, just cut more quickly between the players in the band, but match the prominent part of the music to the part of the film - quicker editing, more energy from the performers, then I reckon you've got yourself a video!

I'm sad to admit it hink this is awesome,

much better than the standard stand in a line and look hardcore

also this sound awesome aswell good tines all round imo

sorry for double post

it just came to the breakdown. . .

i hate this sorta shit it was sick right up until it

I like it! I think this is much better to put on the internet than just a MP3... only spending 30 minutes recording this, awesome!

Agree

It's not bad at all, nicely filmed, but some variety would be good. It's always the same stuff, you know. Film some parts in other places, different clothes, etc. Also they need to act less, or be less nervous, because it looks like they were faking it too much.

To me this is a video that's like "hey, we're jammin our song in the studio having a good time." Not really necessary to do wardrobe and location changes.

More camera cuts would probably look more professional, but I like seeing that they're "really" playing.

I don't understand how it takes all day and 50 different shots of a guy playing the song to produce a pro video when all we see is a split second of the guys playing. Most of it is cut so fast that they don't even need to be playing the same song.

This is up there or better than those videos that are just the dudes playing in front of a white back drop. Seems like Death has a video like that. I could be wrong.

Good work for a quick video that will definitely be a nice addition to their Myspace.

thanks guys for all the awesome feedback! Yeah it was getting late and they had to run so we only recorded about 3 full run-thru's and my battery was dying. They want to do another video later with more locations and things as suggested but it was a lot of fun for giving it a try, I was trying to see how the editing of multiple shots of video would go, and surprisingly it went pretty smoothly. I hope to buy a Sony HDV camera soon, working with a 2001 jvc gr dv 3000u, it does progressive scan so it doesn't look so damn cheesy.

i think it would be better if it was more of a "live" performance and not them imitating their songs. What i mean is like have them actually perform the song and use that as the video. I think that would be better, even if you placed the studio verison over it. It's lame when the guitar player is "working" for the camera. Otherwise, not bad for a first try.

I have a version where they are actually playing and recording it in through the daw as well, but they didnt like how some of the guitar was sloppy and the screamer didnt have enough breath for some of the double parts, so they wanted to do this instead, but the drummer is actually really talented and so are the other two guys.

okay their playing ins't that well but the vocals amazing, untill the brees haha, i love his voice he sounds like parkway drivers vocalist mixed with the red chord. god damn epic

I'd say this isnt their best song, they have like 10 others they are doing at the studio here, we will make another video probably within the next couple weeks of a different song. thanks though man

Play the song 4 times.
1- camera behind drummer
2- camera left (on a tripod or something)
3- camera right (tripod)
4 - close-ups.. etc
