Got a fishing rod for my 1st father's day (thanks honey) and well it's my first fishing rod. Used to go fishing but that was what, 10 years ago maybe.. I set a little portable rig on my bike and will go test that next dawn, there's a river very close to where I live and there are small trouts.

So yeah, fishermen over here, let's talk about it.. tips, gears, lures, w.e

I got a shimano convergence jigging 6,6' IM7 power:medium action:fast rod with a shimano sonora 4000FB reel thing. And a Rapala "ul minnow 04" lure, so trouts, watch out I guess.

Power:medium and action:fast could be clearer to me but it didn't come with instructions hahaha

haven't been fishing for almost 10 years now, you have to get a license here that's pretty rough or go to
private lakes and pay for the time, but everywhere else you got pretty strict rules.
I only went fishing during my holidays in Denmark and Sweden, you were allowed to go fishing for free under
18 and you can buy a fishing license when older so it wasn't a problem.

Really like it, so relaxing!
It was nice, as soon as it started raining during the holidays (happened like once or twice in 2-3 weeks) we
went fishing because besides that, were wasn't alot to do while it rained but the fish bit better.

I have no clue at all about the gear nowadays, I know how to use it when I see it, but that's it :D My brother
knew that stuff but like I said, 10 years ago and translating all that stuff is pretty hard if you're not sure about
the German terms...

Besides that-I always hated to go fishing on lakes, only went fishing on rivers or the sea, caught lots of nice
plaices-sooo delicious.

^^^LOL, I thought you were only fishing amps!

I used to go fishing late 80's and early 90's. I live by the sea, in a very fishing traditional town, so I had many places I used to go, beaches, rocks, cliffs, harbours, even from boats... Those were good days... Rod, basket, six-pack beer, cigarretes and my walkman with early Blind Guardian and Gamma Ray cassettes playing over and over again.

Then I choosed another way of life like playing in bands, girlfriends, weekend drunkness... so I had no time for all and left fishing.

I hope when my son grows I can go with him and teach him how to fish.

I used to go fishing a lot. Favourite was climbing down cliffs in north Wales, spinning for mackerel. Also did a bit of big game fishing in australia, caught some huge Spanish mackerel and baramundi, that shit is intense! Where my dad lives in australia we go spinning for salmon and taylor from the beach, beautiful.

I tried out to be on the england youth fly fishing team because some geezer saw me catching a fish on a really long cast, but I drew blank on the day... oh well haha.

I've fished for my entire life. Its one my favorite things to just relax and let go of everything. But if its trout tips your looking for, I can't help ya. Im mainly a large mouth and northern kind of guy.

But as a good general tip, vary your lures for the weather. Dark colors on cloudy days, and bright shiny colors on sunny days. Also, depth is key when water temp is varying (maybe not so much in your situation depending on the size of the river), fish are more toward the surface in warmer water, and dive deep during low temps.

I will try this little mofo right here: [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Rapala-Minnow-Fishing-1-5-Inch-Yellow/dp/B005WLWHUS"]Link[/ame]
Fortunatly, I live in the place where there are a lot of spots. Wiki says: "In all, Quebec counts over a million lakes and 130,000 streams of which 4500 are rivers.". No wonder why we only need a licence (21$) and can fish almost everything except salmon.

I was thinking about going there http://goo.gl/maps/Iov6 the bridge below is only for bikes/walkers. I somewhat don't want to have people fishing around me but don't know which spot of that river I should go to.

I went fishing for like two 6 hour days this week and couldn't catch crap except for stupid gobys. Tried worms, tried bass shiner minnows, tried lures

I used to do a lot of fishing in Devils Lake, North Dakota (before it started flooding and the fishing got good). Eventually, I just started just throwing hooks, lures, and bait into the lake because it was a whole lot more efficient than throwing a line in the water and waiting for the snag.

Caught some sort of bass today, a white bass I think. Interesting enough, I think I hit it on the 2nd or 3rd cast and caught nothing cool the rest of the evening.

We bought our house from a fishing photographer who I think has his own TV show. He's also a massive metalhead and travels to Sweden to do photographs for bands. I think he knows Enslaved.

Dude, we should grab the rods and tackle, some beer, and head out one day. I haven't been fishing in ages!

I LOVE fishing, but don't have time to do it very often. I usually go fishing with my dad, who lives 5 km outside town. This is what the view looks like:

We've just got a place for a small boat at the local dock a few weeks ago, so that's on the top of my GAS list at the moment!

Love it, but I'm still a noob at it. I get to go once a year with my father-in-law down on the Gulf coast near Corpus. He's got a spot on one of the channels where all the redfish (drum) hide. You have to wade out about a mile in chest deep water, mud under you, while watching out for stingrays and the sharks in the channel. But once there it's like every cast is a bite. Its glorious.
