RockSverige.se conducted an interview with FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH guitarist Zoltan Bathory at this year's Sweden Rock Festival, which was held last weekend in Sölvesborg. You can now watch the chat below. A couple of excerpts follow (transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET). On FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH's forthcoming sixth album, "Got Your Six": "The feedback is, so far, that it's our best, and I believe it myself that it is; I think it is our best album. Best album in a way of… We always do pretty diverse records, and we believe that if you have just one color throughout the whole record, it's not really that interesting. So we usually have a ballad and then super-heavy songs and everything in between, so that's usually how we operate. And [on this record], everything got a little bit more focused, so nothing is really that light, and nothing is really that heavy. So it's everything… Yet it's still diverse enough. So I think we kind of found a tone we wanted where it's just one solid record of heavy metal and hard rock and doesn't really venture into weird places, so to speak. Songwriting is… We always develop, it's always… Things are getting better… and lyrics as well. Most bands usually run out of juice by record five or six, and it's pretty amazing that we actually… I think this is our best record." On the "Got Your Six" title: "'Got your six' is a slang for 'got your back.' It was, sort of, a phrase that was around us a lot, because it's a military term, actually, but that, kind of, seeped into just general society. So everybody's, kind of, using this term anyway. But we have so many military fans that this phrase would be around all the time. And since we did a bunch of fundraising for veterans and all these events where you play military bases all the time — we have a strong connection with military servicemen — and they would say this: like, 'You guys have got our backs, and we appreciate that.' So it was just keep coming this term. And since it's our sicth record, we figured, 'Well, hey…' It made sense." "Got Your Six" will be released on August 28. Among tracks set to appear on the CD is first single "Jekyll And Hyde", which will be made available at radio in the coming weeks. To promote "Got Your Six", FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH will embark on a North American co-headlining tour with PAPA ROACH this fall. Also appearing on the bill will be IN THIS MOMENT and FROM ASHES TO NEW. "Got Your Six" was once again helmed by Kevin Churko, the Canadian record producer/engineer and songwriter who currently lives in Las Vegas, where he works out of his private studio, The Hideout Recording Studio.
