Yeah this shit is like a more interesting version of the Faceless. Plus I think Johnny Davy is a great DM vocalist too.

Should add that I thought the mix was a bit meh... Sounds like a usual Michael Keene fair, but I read that Navene did it too. Sounds like POD guitars though..

Yes, Pod guitars and drums were played in by Navine on a drum pad. Navine said he met Alex when they both were trying out for Animals As Leaders. I dig what Navine is doing. Very Faceless. It doesnt fill the spot left empty for me after Animosity broke up though.

On a drum pad?! You mean something like this:

????????????????

I too, have watched the videos of Alex jamming along to the tracks. Extremely talented drummer and I like the fact that he makes a point of switching his leading hand/foot up. One of the other guys in his band 'Ordinance' posts on here I think (and mixed the drums in those vids). Can't think of the username.

I know what you mean about Animosity. There are flourishes of it in Navene's drumming on this, but overall it's just more clinical and not crazy enough to fill in for Animosity.

you couldn't be more wrong...

this is how Navene tracked the drums:

he used his real drum set. had mics for overheads. he had triggers on each of his drums. each trigger ran into an Alesis DM5. he then ran a midi cable from the DM5 into his interface. he ran the midi signal through Addictive Drums. he then quantized the drum takes.

i don't know where you heard that he used some kind of drum pad, but he told me that he recorded the drums the way i stated previously while he was riding in my car with me...

I recorded a band that had Navene mix the tracks and the drummer from that band was amazed to hear that he had recorded the drums the way I had said. I figured the truth couldnt have gotten too mixed up through one person, but I guess you'd be surprised. If you heard directly from the source then cool, and sorry for the miss information.
