Flying V Questions

Had the opportunity to play a flying v tonight and kinda fell in love. Due to my hypermobility this guitar seems to fit me perfectly. I can attack the strings from the top making my palm muting seem super clean (finally) and it is nice and easy on my back.

Just wondering who makes the better of the more recent flying v's, anything I should be looking at. Also what pickups are recommended this will mainly be a live machine (Kamelot style orchestra rock)

For live I'm only playing v type guitars, for some reason I can't play the lower strings on the higher frets (10+ ) on strat style guitars when standing up, forces my fretting hand into an awkward position.
V style guitars are hangin more to the left (or was it right?), and that tiny difference makes the higher regions way more comfortable to reach for me.
I'm playin Gibson V, Jackson USA KV2, RR1, ESP NV STD, Washburn Dime3, they all are good, what's your budget? Do you need a trem? Sneap has an Edwards V that's really nice also

Lasse no no trem. What PU's do you recommend with flying v's? Are the 496R and 500T fine?

I suggest the white gibson (or an old gothic). Looks secks-wee and has an ebony board. Plus it's a Gibson and it will hold it's value well.

Otherwise there's one from every manufacturer really.

Soft spot for the old tried and true Gibson Flying V - despite it's age (think about the fact that the first Gibson Flying V prototype was in 1957 and imagine how radical the design must have been to someone coming from a Telecaster/Strat standard mindset), still one of the sexiest (and most metal) guitars ever. Either white (pickguard) on white (body) or white on black - both are beautiful pieces of guitar art and functionality. I also have a fondness for the original Korina design.

If you can find one, the old Ibanez Vs were great. Fairly light and very "playable."

I highly recommend the ESP LTD flying Vs, they are the cream of the crop when it comes to guitar under 1000$ I have the LTD DV8-R which could be perfect for what you're looking for, they come with Seymour Duncan JB and 59'. Play great, sounds great, neck stability is awesome.

I love V's. I am very lucky that I have a real Gibson V XPL

That is my exact color (wineburst) as above.

Mine doesn't have a Kahler, it has the standard style tail piece like this one.

I get more comments on this guitar due to its inline 6 headstock. I never did like the "V" headstock.

I'd check out Edwards. My Edwards V is a beast. And apparently they're Sneap-approved, or at least so sayeth this thread. I was unaware of this. Nifty.

As a Jackson lover i would say: Get a Jackson RR Professional that were made in Japan between 1990 and 1995. You often find them pretty cheap.

i`ll second that,former bandmate had one in the early 90s,always sounded f****n good!!!!
