Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 dropouts during media playback

I've never once had a problem with it as an actual audio interface, i.e. whilst recording or mixing or anything DAW related, it's only when it's being used simply as a sound card and general PC use, like watching videos or listening to music.

Watching DVD's, or YouTube videos even, the "FW Active" light will blink, video will skip, and so will audio. That happens about once a minute, rendering everything un-enjoyable

Any thoughts?

thats weird. ive never seen my fw active light flicker on or off. do you have a different fw cable you could try out?

No, but it seems too consistent to be the cable. Not to mention my Saffire Pro 14 did it too.
I think I may have solved it though. In the CP I had the driver latency set to 'short', but by changing it to 'medium' it doesn't seem to occur any more.

My saffire pro 24 had the same problem. I think its a compatibility problem with the firewire card in the computer.

This happens to me when I'm using wireless internet. Otherwise, it works perfectly for me.

General rule of thumb for FW audio: don't use wireless internet as it fucks up with the FW connection.

Wireless card.

Was troubleshooting this with one of my customers for 2hrs. Check your DPC latency with and without wireless card enabled (from device manager). I was seeing spikes of over 4000
