folkloric original Olat Ha'tamid , Aldiar almukadisa!

iam very intrested in the folkloric orginal covers done by OL , and who are the artists and from where i can download them and find them , and what other similar sounds of those can be herd ?

for example just like ( al-diar al-mukadisa) is there any songs close to that style ? esp this style and also on the new album where u have ( o'olat ha'mid )


am desperately looking for the original tracks that OL has covered so far, like Aldiar Al Mukadisa (The Holy Land Of Israel), Thee By The Father I Pray, Shir Hama'alot, El Meod Na'ala, Shir Hashirim, or A'salk, Olat Ha'tamid <<Could a member of OL or some Israeli friend who has any of them upload it to some server?

Hmmm
Well, a lot of those songs are from back when there wasn't recording so you won't really have original artists performing them but other versions, especially by Ofra Haza, for songs such as A'salk and Sapari.
With regards to Shir Hashirim, I'm deeply conflicted about the actual song after hearing Shlomit's version, which is evidently different from the ENA. Maybe an Israeli friend could help us out here.

I'm not familiar with Sephardic music at all, and from the little that I learnt recently, El Meod Na'ala is a Sephardic song. So hopefully Kobi or Anton could help with this.

I really wish to hear to hear other versions of Shir Hama'alot, I love that song a lot. And by the way, does Yossi's father only sing or does he play oud on this track too?

You are raising some interesting topics here. A song like Olat hatamid dates from the 11th century, so ofcourse there are no "originals" there, as this goes for all traditionals. But I'm pretty sure some Israel friend or maybe even and arab friend from one of us might be able to help us out.

I'm sure there are a number of internet pages where we can find the answers to these questions. I will try to ask some friends.

Recently Iwas present at an interview with members of an arab rock band from Israel. They stated that it was actually Orphaned Land that got them curious about their own roots of Arabic music and got them to listen to it (again).
Me and a friend have dubbed the new OL album "Umm Kulthum" metal- with the greatest respect towards this incredible artist!

Hey Ananth, It only took Kobi 1 month to get it right. So no problem it you don't manage in 3 tries. What the band actually did was send files back and forth over the internet with the recordings to a friend of theirs, she is a native speaker. She was checking and helping to correct the pronouciation. I gues speaking is already hard when it's a language you don't really know, let alone singing it and making it sound natural at the same time.

no its the same , but it seems longer cuz when kobi sings this part in some places he gives it a long voice chord , just like when he says

wa yaaaaaahddddeeeeeeeeee allaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah

but its really a small part

btw in muslem world in all conutries its forbidden to sing parts of the qura'an its considered haraam , i dont think arab and muslem will like that much !

Hm, I believe that's a matter of interpretation of Qu'ran, whether it's good or not good to chant it praising Allah.
Like, for example, as far as I know Morocco is the only country allowing women to chant Qu'ran - many things rather depend on local traditional framework as there are thousands of different ways to understand any principle from any holy scripture.

if u mean by chant which is in arabic ( Tarteel ) the qura'an thats allowed in all ways weather its women or a man , not only in Morocco ...

u have to distinguish between tarteel and singing

and moreover i can bet with u .. in all islamic countries even in morocco

chanting from qura'an with any musical instrument is strictly forbidden weather its in any country and even among all types of muslems which sunni's and shitte' and u can search and ask ppl
