"Something From Nothing", the new single from FOO FIGHTERS, can be streamed in the YouTube clip below. The song is taken from the band's new album, "Sonic Highways", which is due in stores on November 10. If you pre-order the disc at iTunes, you will immediately receive the "Something From Nothing" single. The "Sonic Highways" eight-part series, which was directed by FOO FIGHTERS frontman Dave Grohl, premieres on October 17 on HBO. The TV series documents the making of the album at iconic studios in eight different cities — Austin, Chicago, Los Angeles, Nashville, New Orleans, New York, Seattle, and Washington, D.C. — plus the history of each city's musical roots, scenes and the studio itself. Grohl interviewed a number of personalities for the series, including Slash, Dan Auerbach of the BLACK KEYS, LL Cool J, Bonnie Raitt, Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, Pharrell Williams, Joan Jett, CHEAP TRICK ‘s Rick Nielsen, Paul Stanley of KISS, Joe Walsh, ZZ TOP's Billy F. Gibbons, Macklemore, Buddy Guy and even President Barack Obama. Dave Grohl said in a trailer, "I really believe the environment in which you write or record an album influences the musical result." At another point in the trailer, Grohl remarked, "This is a musical map of America. It's a chronicling of our journey to unravel our musical identity." As you can tell from the image in the embedded video below, "Something From Nothing" was written and recorded in Chicago where the FOO FIGHTERS will play at "Sonic Highways" series premiere celebration on Friday, October 17. The gig will be streamed live on HBO's Facebook page beginning at 11:59 p.m. EST and will include the first-ever live performance of "Something From Nothing". FOO FIGHTERS began a week-long residency on CBS-TV's "Late Show With David Letterman" this past Monday (October 13).
