Didn't put this in the "Recommendations" section as he has not actually released anything other than demos yet.

Fans of Sombre Forêts, take note. Very similar band, right down to both names having "Forest" in it. He had a demo released back in 2005, s/t. Newer songs are on his myspace, though things seem to be on hold. I very much enjoy "Misere", a very dark and chilling piece.

No, not related to paysage d'hiver, Wintherr is from Darkspace, so from Switzerland. He just happened taken a french phrase for his name.

Foret D'hiver is a guy from Quebec here in Canada.

I dunno Matt, once forest and winter are used in every way imaginable they might start mispelling stuff intentionally to continue on, Anders Nystrom style.

"Foreztz In Cold Winterz"

:kickass:

oh so now paysage is the darkspace side project instead of the other way round huh

i must be gettin old

Nah you are right, your memory isn't failing you just yet :). Was just explaining that it isn't the same guy in Foret D'hiver.

Speaking of, any comments about Foret D'hiver?

Gave the first track on the Myspace a listen - like the riffage, but I personally need more variation in the drumming to keep me interested. Repetition for hypnotic effect is one thing, but that constant 'boom... tap... boom... tap...' drumming got old fast. The vocals are cool though - sound appropriately tortured without verging on the ridiculous 'emotionally deranged goblin-child' trap that bands like Silencer fall into.
