So i decided to invest more and buy those. Will i be able to go sirgical with those? and can i use them without a headphone amp? just from the headphone out on the rme?

Instead of making a new thread, I will ask my question here. I'm currently having problems with the cable on my m50's, is there any prefered way to solve this? Or just typical soldering?

I think mine must be broken cause I don't like them at all
I feel like they have to much bass and some weird frequencies in the high mids that I can't get rid of.

The M50 are probably the most horrible headphones I ever had or even had a listen with, ridiculously overpowered bass and weird high-mids.
A very HiFi sound really, but in the worst possible way. I know several engineers who share this opinion but most people seem to love them..
(not sure how many of them have actually tried different headphones for a longer period). Personally, I think they're also very uncomfortable.
They sound a little odd to me and yes, very hi-fi but they're GREAT for checking out what muck is lurking in the lower-end part of your overall frequency sprectrum.
And for the price, they are worth it for that ALONE.
I find them very comfy and loveeee using them while tracking vocals. MUCH better than my old Senny HD280 Pro's. FUCK those headphones...
I'm also the guy who LOVES how a vintage 50's era Auratone sounds... (just one, in mono). so fucking TASTY. YUM.
And for the price, they are worth it for that ALONE.

+1, I've always felt that the subs are a little bit lacking. Still really like mine though and haven't heard anything I prefer yet.

Upper mids are a bit blaring, otherwise I like them. They translate well for headphones at least. They sounded harsher on a Focusrite Saffire Pro than a Duet 2, for what it's worth. RME should be on par with the Duet. The bass response is pretty good. If you aren't hearing much bass, maybe the interface headphone amp isn't keeping up with the current requirements, my old Presonus Audiobox had that problem.

Really? I almost feel like mine have too much...
Not as much as the Beyers I had before, but still more than you'd hear through a "flat" system.

i felt for a long time that the Beyers had far too much bass for what i needed them for, was ok for listening to albums, but isn't very good for me for recording and mixing, been looking at getting the m50's myself
