how do you deal with them sounding like the macho man randy savage pitchshifted 8 semitones down after a few days? i tell them all to go get the zen of screaming dvd, and ive got a few vocal lesson cds which i give them as well...but they end up getting inflamed after a few days. it usually becomes a problem when you have to do more than 4 songs at a time.

usually a few days rest cures it a bit..but sometimes there are cases where you cant afford to miss a day even, working to deadlines etc.

any help/tips/remedies would be awesome :)

where could i get somma that? i can get stuff like manuka honey..would that help?

I use Slippery Elm Bark powder made into a tea. It's similar to Throat Coat and completely natural. You can get it at health food stores. It lubricates the throat and doesn't taste too bad.

Between that and decent technique and I can scream all day.

its really important to just do your scheduling based around vocals, no matter what kind of music it is

instead of fixing the problem, avoid the problem all together

so this is a no no schedule:
drums
drums
drums
bass
guitar
guitar
guitar
stuff
vocals
vocals
vocals
vocals

this is a good schedule with no vocal problems:
drums w/full band scratch
drums w/full band scratch
drums w/full band scratch
vocals
bass
guitar
vocals
guitar
guitar
vocals

doesnt really working with singing though, unless the scratch tracks are nice and in tune, which can be rare if you have a "doesnt matter" attitude

To have a healthy throat get some Tabasco sauce, toad powder, bat wing juice, raven liver, hair of rat, virgin menstruation, mix all together in a crucible, cook it on a low flame, say the secret prayer of enchantation and you will scream like Satan. :headbang:
