Former BONHAM Singer Daniel MacMaster Passes Away

Just a Kid at Heart
I loved that first Bonham CD, The Disregard of Timekeeping. I saw Bonham open for -- believe it or not -- Spinal Tap back in the early 1990s.

This just posted on Blabbermouth.net:

Former BONHAM singer Daniel MacMaster passed away last night. The cause of his death has not yet been released.

Unsigned Connecticut-based hard rock solo artist Jimmy D, who collaborated with Daniel on the EMERALD MONKEY project, has issued the following statement regarding MacMaster's passing:

"Daniel and I started working together in early 2005. We found a writing chemistry and friendship like no other… in the world we loved called music. Now at this moment, it's hard to believe he is gone. We spoke weekly, holidays, birthdays… always, and I will miss the short time we had together. The writing, the jokes, and the stories. In my eyes he was an extremely talented musician. He taught me so much that I was lacking as a songwriter, and now there will be a void. Knowing now that our plans for releasing music performing together this year will never come to pass, saddens me beyond belief. He and I had our heart set on getting MONKEY-MACMASTER and his solo effort 'out to the masses,' as he put it.

"My heart and prayers go out for his family through this difficult time.

"I will miss you brotha. Forever your dear friend, Jimmy D."

This guy definitely had a great voice... It's very sad to hear he's passed away - especially since I believe he's relatively young.

Glad someone else here likes Mad Hatter-- Change of a Season is one of my favorite tunes from this era-- I REALLY liked this era of Jason's playing-- This is a sad story about MacMaster-- He had the perfect voice for this band-- Chas West in Bonham's later days didn't move me quite as much

awwwwww maaaan...... :waah::waah::waah:

I loved... LOVED Disregard of Timekeeping - that album was given to me by a girlfriend at college after I couldn't stop going nuts about 'Wait for You' everytime it came on the radio

Bus ride to the train to visit her at her house parents house in Richmond VA, I got so hooked on ROOM FOR US ALL on my walkman.....

and yeah MADHATTER had some good stuff too - ESPECIALLY Change of a Season and Chimera.......

RIP Jason.... RIP

Man, I hate to hear this! :erk: Disregard of Timekeeping is a classy hard rock album to say the least. I never cared much for Madhatter though, because at times it reminds me of Aerosmith.

RIP Daniel....

What almost makes this worse is that Daniel died of something that could have been prevented: a staph infection that he didn't know he had.

This info just posted to Blabbermouth:

MacMaster died in Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Center in Thunder Bay on Sunday, March 16. He was in the hospital less than 24 hours before he passed away. He was 39 years old.

Terry Baker, who was in a band called SCORCHER with vocalist Daniel MacMaster before Daniel hooked up with Jason Bonham to form BONHAM, told BLABBERMOUTH.NET regarding MacMaster's passing, "Dan passed away from a staph infection; he had pneumonia and didnt realize he had a staph infection that got in his blood. By the time he got to hospital, it was too late."

Wow, that sucks. I've *always* had a few tracks from Disregard in my mp3 collection since the Napster days. That's too bad!
