Former Fear Factory vocalist, Burton C. Bell, recently spoke with Australia’s Jaimunji about his solo career. He revealed that he will continue releasing singles – he shared “Anti-Droid” and “Technical Exorcism” last year – rather than focusing on writing a full album.

Asked about life after Fear Factory, Bell offered the following:

“It’s very liberating, I’ll tell you that. I don’t have to pigeonhole myself. I don’t have to stay within a certain parameter of a sound. I don’t have to use a certain producer. Basically, the sky’s the limit right now, and if it falls into my criteria of ‘heavy, groovy, dark and moody,’ I’m gonna do it. So it’s been very liberating. Also, I’m very conscious that all eyes for this music are on me, so I’ll be to blame if they don’t like it, but I’m not really concerned about that. It really is all the pressure’s on me to make this sound killer, because I feel like I do have something to prove. I’ve done all this music throughout my entire career (Fear Factory, GZR, Ascension Of The Watchers) and I’m going to continue doing the music that I am passionate about. I’m putting all those together and creating the sound that I wanna move forward with, and that’s the sound of Burton C. Bell, which is heavy, groovy, dark and moody.”

Bell performed at The Regent in Los Angeles, CA as the support act for God Forbid on December 13th, 2024. Fan-filmed video of his show can be viewed below.

The voice that defined futuristic anxiety, existential desperation, and steadfast resistance returns. Extreme music pioneer, multimedia talent, and iconoclastic provocateur, Burton C. Bell, resurrects his legacy and forward-thinking destiny, remade in a career-spanning incarnation as a singular solo artist.

His work continually explores themes of dystopian angst, identity, technology gone wrong, and resilience. “Anti-Droid”, Bell’s debut solo single, recently arrived with a potent message. I severed the machine that no longer served me, he screams in the moody, synth-heavy, sci-fi metal missive. It’s a defiant statement delivered with a confident bombast. Burton C. Bell is back on the offensive.
