Frameshift -- An Absence Of Empathy

over many listens, i'd have to add this as my review:

what happened to the production quality?
and Seb Bach does a great job, but Henning's lyrics are just blah... and so is the album for diversity of sound. first Frameshift was much better

Primezone Media Network (www.primezone.com) has issued the following report:

WMD Holdings Group, Inc. (Pink Sheets:WMDH) announces that Frameshift's An Absence of Empathy, featuring vocalist Sebastian Bach, has shipped worldwide. It is the much-anticipated follow-up to Frameshift's 2003 critically acclaimed Unweaving the Rainbow debut, which featured Dream Theater vocalist James LaBrie.

International distribution and licensing deals are in place to ensure widespread availability of the album. Oarfin Distribution (North America); Avalon/Marquee (Asia); Hellion (Brazil); Just For Kicks Music (Germany, Switzerland and Austria); Atenzia (Scandanavia); and Bertus (Belgium, Luxemburg and the Netherlands). Dozens of other independent resellers covering various European/South American territories are in place.

Sebastian Bach fronted Skid Row, the first metal band to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200. He is responsible for 22 million+ record sales. He's starred on Broadway in "Jesus Christ Superstar," "Jekyll and Hyde" and "The Rocky Horror Picture Show". Bring 'Em Bach Alive, his solo album, was released in 1998, and has been heard on international stages with his current touring band, which can also be seen on his Forever Wild DVD. A frequent presence on the small screen, Bach has been welcomed numerous times on MTV, VH1 and WB's The Gilmore Girls.

Frameshift mastermind Henning Pauly describes An Absence of Empathy as a heavy soundtrack to a movie that doesn't exist. His compositions are visual, and coupled with Bach's metal/Broadway approach, achieves a synthesis rarely heard in popular music today. Musically, its modern Prog-Metal roots are more on the subtle side as, on this project, a more epic mentality has been brought to the fore. The project is the logical continuation in ProgRock Record's lineup of high-quality titles. The label continues to add high profile musicians to its catalog while maintaining true to its philosophy that the music has to be good no matter whose name is on it. After James LaBrie, Michael Sadler (Saga), Guy Manning, Mike Keneally, and Jody Ashworth (TSO), Bach represents another step forward in worldwide recognition for the label.

PRR president Shawn Gordon said, "The pre-sales for the new Frameshift album have been great and reviewers are already loving it." One of said reviews read: "Henning's musicianship and writing style in this album have clearly set a precedent for all 21st century prog-metal!"

Damn...in light of all the recent controversy...there's a lot of heavy stroking going on in this press release....haha!

Rock on!

After nearly a month of playing this disc, it's really grown on me. The lyrical content is harsh and a big turn from the first Frameshift concept, but it's intriguing.

I think this is one of the best albums of the year so far. I can't decide which Frameshift album I like better though.

I agree with you Batmura. I feel like this is one of the strongest CD's I've heard this year so far! I was not anticipating a good effort, but I feel like Frameshift has given us a great effort! I hope this project opens up more doors for Bas, but it sounds like he's going to screw himself out of a second wind for his career! Oh well, we'll see I guess....

Yeah Bach calls it "Sebastian Bach's new album" on his own website. That's very low, in my opinion. It's a given he didn't write the music on that disc. It reeks of Henning Pauly from start to finish. Moreover, it seems to me he didn't really have as much lyrical input as he claims.

He does an amazing vocal performance on the album though. This is the best thing he's done since Slave to the Grind.

I had to resurrect an old thread! :)

I finally got around to buying the new Frameshift disc from Zane, and I still say it's one of the best of 2005! If you've not given the disc a fair shake yet, do so, because you shouldn't be disappointed!

Henning and Sebastian may hate one another now, but they've made a heck of CD together!

It's in my Top 5. A great disk, and hopefully it makes the collective Top 10!

What a complete joke. I'm not sure who Bach thinks he's fooling by saying that, but ANYONE familiar with Henning Pauly's material can tell he's full of shit. And being an enormous fan of Labrie's work on the first Frameshift, this only makes me wish even more that he could have done the second one. Musically, I love both albums, but vocally I think Bach is not just a step backwards, but a 10 mile run in the wrong direction...

IMO, Bach's voice gave Frameshift a shot in the arm that it needed. I like James too, so I'm not going to dog him for the sake of arguing. Bach is a great vocalist and showman.

I am going to have to agree with Edge of Thorns here, Bach is a great vocalist. Granted he probably isnt my favorite, he is a good vocalist.

Thanks! If you can, go back and watch some old Skid Row footage. Bach and company kicked some ass back in the day! :headbang:
