Well yes it could come across as spam initially, but if you consider I am offering to spend time applying professional skill and knowledge (and a free preview takes as a long as a full master and gets exactly the same attention) then it really changes your take on it. As I say no obligation and it's a great way to hear how your music would sound when choosing a mastering engineer. I have worked with a few metal/punk bands (as well as have experience recording this heavy genres) and they have been very pleased.
