I've bought 3 of the other packs. If these sound the same, being signed up to the newsletter will not be worth the gain.

Still waiting on someone to even come close to Ryan's fredman set...

I really respect the work ethic of these guys, but the approach of 'lets throw the kitchen sink at it and see what sticks' is just wrong IMO. To have hundreds of impulses, and out of them only 2 or 3 borderline useful ones is just wasteful. It's best to invest the time getting a golden-eared mofo to set those mics for you, and get 1 or 2 golden ones. Once again, quality over quantity.

Ermz... I do respect your opinion concerning Redwirez impulses, but honestly, I feel the issue here is user perspective. For what my perception of a good guitar tone is, the Redwirez impulses have been by far the best for me. I have tried Ryan's impulses myself, and I think they're much too bass heavy for me and what I do. No offense to Ryan's work.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that just because they didn't work for you, these impulses are by far the best impulses for many others, me being one of them. For me, there aren't one or two golden ones. All of them can be useful to me depending on the sound and situation I'm after.

I'm more than happy to listen to any great results done using the Redwirez impulses, Matt. Not trying to be closed minded here, as I have given all 3 packs a really really good go on my end. So if you'd like, please put up some stuff you like using them!

Sure Ermz...

Here's a recording I did with them a while back. I do a lot more soloing stuff, similar style and sound of Petrucci's singing leads where the Redwire impulses sound perfect, but in this recording, I was going for a rhythm tone like that found on Element's of Persuasion... Probably more along the heavier rhythm tones you're looking for.

Here's a solo...

Cool man, thanks a lot for that. I'll take a good listen tomorrow.

Here is a set of rhythm tracks from my end using Ryan's 'Pres 8': http://dl.dropbox.com/u/285689/death-metal-mix5.mp3

Another set of rhythms using Pres 8: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/285689/Music/GoodWillOut-Paranoid.mp3

And a set of solos using Pres 8 (with an amp sim this time tho): http://dl.dropbox.com/u/285689/Music/Eye of the Enemy - Peace.mp3

Thanks Ermz,

Yeah, I think the difference might be that we're looking for very different things. There's a lot of variation between what we both posted and Ryan's impulses may just suit what you're doing better. But it doesn't mean that the Redwirez impulses are bad, or that Ryan's are. They're just different and better suitable in different situations?

Excellent mixing btw as always!
