German melodic metal band Freedom Call will release their new studio album Land Of The Crimson Dawn on February 24th in Germany, February 27th in Europe and February 28th in the USA/Canada.

Singer and Guitarist Chris Bay offers news to the fans: "We started in the beginning of September to record the first tracks for the new album. The band was working the past months intensely creative and did a fantastic job! Now we're happy and satisfied with the result and will finish the recordings in the next days!! The new studio album will include 14 full-valued songs and some very special bonus tracks. The title of the new Freedom Call studio album will be: "Land Of The Crimson Dawn"! A new world, a new dimension full of attraction, fascination and illusions. Let us travel together, far beyond in any power of imagination, through the Valley of the Crimson Dawn, an illuminating part of the glorious Land of Light. Immerse into the world of craft to fight, to enjoy the excitement to survive or surrender. Always on the edge to reality..."

 That description is on par with Rhapsody! Looking forward to this one. Legend of the Shadowking was pretty good, I thought, though I think I'm in the minority!

Used to love Freedom Call but I hadn't listened to them for a good while. Last week I put a couple of albums in the car and to be honest, I found them quite hard to listen to. Maybe my tastes have changed but the songs just seem overly simplistic and to be honest, a bit boring. Still going to see them in Wakefield on Sunday so maybe they will win me over again!

a perfect day was my favorite from legend of the shadow king. i love freedom call and am super excited for this new album. i'm curious to see if it's as dark as their latest release or if they go back to the more possitive lyrics

I do love me some Freedom Call, so I'll be all over that album. I enjoyed Legend of the Shadowking quite a bit, and it has grown on me even more. I think the three 'dark' (by Freedom Call standards anyway) songs on there work pretty well. And also, there's Merlin. :p

FREEDOM CALL "LAND OF THE CRIMSON DAWN" - COVER AND TRACKLISTING REVEALED:
There can be no doubt that Freedom Call, in addition to their many other irrefutable fortes, are also a first-rate live act. Their concerts see the melodic metal outfit from Southern Germany deliver a veritable a riot of musical zest, positive energy and personal optimism. So it's not surprising that vocalist/guitarist Chris Bay and his team have been wanting to add this dynamic flair to one of their studio productions without neglecting their familiar love of detail – which the band from Nuremberg have skilfully accomplished on Land Of The Crimson Dawn.

“The new tracks simply have more of that rock'n'roll feel,” says Bay, “everything sounds much rawer, there's more focus on the guitars than before, and the musicians had more freedom during the recordings than they used to have.” This added independence has paid off for Freedom Call: Land Of The Crimson Dawn is definitely one of the band's most dynamic productions since their 1999 debut Stairway To Fairyland, combining the passion of their live shows with carefully intricate arrangements and technical finesse.

The new album will be available from Steamhammer/SPV on 27 February 2012 (Germany: 24 February 2012; USA: 28 February 2012 ) in three versions: as a jewel case featuring 14 songs, as a limited double CD DigiPack including six additional bonus tracks – which have chums such as Powerworld, Secret Sphere, Downspirit, Manimal, Neonfly and Hannes Braun (Kissin' Dynamite) deliver their versions of popular Freedom Call numbers – and on double coloured vinyl LP.

Almost read that as Power Quest and not Powerworld - thanks for the info Steve! Some of those track titles definitely scream rock n' roll and not power metal but I'll be checking this out regardless. The cover looks great!

Judging by the song titles alone, seems like it's gonna be more rock songs in the vein of "Far Away" and "A Perfect Day", which I'm not too fond of, but there also seem to be a lot of kickass regular PM tunes on there. Cool concept letting other bands play covers of your songs, seems like I might have to get the digipak.

Looking forward to this one, I was really impressed with the last album despite quite a lot of negative feedback
