Frontman Dale George Lytle of platinum selling LA rockers, Angeles, mourns the tragic loss of his wife, Connie Lytle:
“This one’s for you, Connie. She loved this song so much. Every time we rehearsed it, getting ready to record, I’d come upstairs, and the first thing she would say was how much she loved it. Out of all the new songs, this one stood out to her for some reason.
“The morning she passed, we sat down together, and she took my horrible handwriting and wrote the lyrics on a piece of paper for me to take to the studio. We were set to record it on Wednesday—it was Saturday that day, exactly one month ago today. That was the last thing she wrote down.
“That morning, we put the song on and just let it loop, playing over and over again. I asked her to dance, and we danced for about 15 to 20 minutes. She loved to dance so much. And for some reason, that was the first time we had danced together in two years. Wow… just wow. I have no words.
“I just don’t know what to say. This has been the hardest month of my life. You never truly know what you have until it’s gone. You don’t realize how special someone is until they’re no longer here. Connie was so special—one of a kind. She was our backbone. She always had my back. She was the greatest wife a man could ever ask for. Thirteen years together.
“She loved this song so much. It wasn’t written for her or about her, and I don’t want to confuse that. But she just connected with it. I recorded it after she passed away, and now, of course, all the songs feel like they’re for her. I miss her so much.
“It was one month ago, at 7:30 AM, that she fell down the stairs. We had been watching a video she had just finished that morning. We sat there for about three hours, just watching it, just being together.
“I hope she’s in a better place now. If anyone deserves to be, it’s her.
“This is the hardest thing I’ve ever had to deal with since losing my mom. But in some ways, I was with Connie more than I was with my mom—I lost my mom when I was 19 and was in school most of the time, only seeing her at breakfast and at night. But Connie and I… we were together 24/7 for 13 years.
“It’s just really tough. It’s lonely. I’m so lonely. I just want her back.”
