This is a short test song. I wish I could mix it myself, I really do, but I just plain suck. I’m getting better all the time, maybe one day, but for now I need to get specific about how I spend the limited time that I have. Sitting at my desk twiddling is not productive.

I’m looking for someone to re-amp a couple of guitar tracks then mix/master the song. I’m hoping to find someone to work with on a much more substantial project in the future.

You will be provided with all tracks edited including drum samples (you can uses your own drum samples if you like) in their DI or raw unprocessed format plus the midi files for each instrument.

Here is a VERY rough mix: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/7810902/ETD.mp3

If you are interested please PM me, preferably with a link to some samples of your work, and your quote.

I’m happy for other comments a la “Rate my mix”.

Warm fuzzy vibes to you all.
BT.

Thanks for all the replies so far.

This mix seems to be leaning 2-3 db to the right. Did you accidentally pan the master buss?

Not intentional, my sinus is a bit blocked so it's probably that. I will check it out later.

Is it guitar pro 6? The guitars remind me of the MIDI character of GP

Ouch! Is it that bad? I probably went a bit OTT with the editing. The way it's played the left hand fingers have to slam into the fretboard which makes a popping sound. Kind of like slap bass in reverse if that makes any sense.

I tracked the guitars and quantized them. Then I punched in a bunch of notes for bits that needed it. Things like sweeps I went overboard, I've not really tracked this way before, it's a bit addictive and hard to know when to stop. I don't think amp sims help, I hope reamping will smooth it out a bit.

The bass is Trilian. I'm trying to work out how to get the fast runs to sound more natural.

Thanks.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to PM me. All of your work is impressive. I have decided not to proceed with this track at this time. I spent too long mucking around tracking guitars and became blind (more like deaf) to how over edited it had become. After reading the comments and stepping away from it for a day, I can now hear that it sounds too un-natural in some parts.

I will admit that my ego was slightly bruised, but I’m man enough to take it. I’m not going to defend my abilities as a player. Talk is cheap. I will, as always, let my playing do the talking. Nor will I delete or edit my original post for the same reasons.

For all of you who offered to mix the track, again I thank you and I WILL be back. Hopefully we can work together on something soon. I don't think I can face this track again for a while.

Oops! :D
It does sound over edited, but again, I wasn't really judging your playing (as I really thought it wasn't you, because it sounds obviously robotic at this time), so don't worry man, next time just don't over edit that much! ;)

Best of luck ;)

No offense taken! I think your comments are true. Like I said I'm trying to avoid defending myself as much as possible because I think people do that suck.
