I bought a PDI-03 and I am totally happy. I will post some clips on www.netmusicians.org in the next days. The clips will be recorded with a Marshall 6100 (30th Anniv.), Marshall 2205 (JCM 800) and Engl 520/Peavey Poweramp Combination. That thing rocks big time.

I've just uploaded some demos recorded directly with the Palmer PDI-03. As announced, they include a Marshall 6100 (different channels/modes), Marshall 2205 JCM-800 with TubeFactor in front, Engl 620 preamp/Peavey 50-50 poweramp. All poweramps have been kranked to about 50%. The mix is left pretty raw intentionally, just a bit of EzDrummer and sometimes a Bass.

Impulses? I know that I can record a POD without cab simulation and add a cab-impulse during mixing but how can I do this with a real amp? Maybe I could do it by using the line-outs of the Palmer PDI-03 where the unprocessed signal comes out but that disables the load-box-facility of the Palmer and I have to connect a cabinet and my neighbors will kill me immediately...

there's shitloads of info. But yes, I think you can use the unprocessed out of the palmer although this signal will include the poweramp coloring of the amp, then get voxengo's boogex (free) and some cabinet IRs (search this forum) and make some comparison clips!Instead of the unprocessed out of the palmer you can use the FX send or preamp/line out of your amps. Just connect the head to the palmer (to use it as a load box) if you don't want to have a cabinet connected while you record the preamp signal to use with impulses.

Sounds pretty solid, definitely. You can run a cable from the preamp out of the units and run impulses on those, and just set the Palmer like you'd normally have it.

I'll try the cabinet impluses as soon as I find something useable. I fiddled around a bit with some downloaded cabinetimpulses and Voxengo Boogex using non-cabinet sounds from my Line6 Toneport and did not get so great results yet, but I will try that with some real amp and post the results for direct PDI-03/impulse comparison.
But if I tap the signal from a line out or effect send of my amp I do not get anything from my poweramp because the signal goes out before the poweramp section. Due to the load-box facility of the Palmer I will miss the poweramp saturation (I usually krank them fairly high) and the signal will go directly into the cabinet impulse. But we will see...
