Fuck Maiden Rock

Blitzkrieg

Master Exploder
I was making a Maiden mp3 cd earlier today with all the studio albums and the best of the b-sides on it (fitted perfectly actually), and have spent the last couple of hours listening to random stuff from their catalogue. I really do forget most of the time how bloody good Maiden are. Listening to a playlist of lots of my favourite stuff has just given me a massive woody. Fear Of The Dark, To Tame A Land, Children Of The Damned, Caught Somewhere In Time....what a fucking brilliant band. Also, I have enjoyed Dance Of Death and Paschendale more than ever on this listen, what awesome songs those are. Paschendale is amongst the best material they have ever put out, and I honestly can't believe some people think otherwise. Brilliant.

Also, just fooling with the equalizer for my Creative mp3 player, I have gotten a fantastic mix, and Maiden has never sounded so good.

I can't wait for the new album, and I really hope I get another chance to see them, next time playing a set from all of their catalogue.

Yeah, every so often I put on one of the various best ofs that I have floating around, and I have the same reaction.

I mean, with out listening to it, I can say "Run to the Hills? Yeah, it's pretty good, but pretty dated" but if I put it on it's air-guitar all the way. Which is quite dangerous, because I usually listen to it in the car.

Maiden are one of the only bands that i grew up listening to that have the same impact on me that they did back then. I've gone through a phase where i haven't listened to Maiden for a while, in fact theres barely been a time when i haven't listened to them in more than a few days over the last 6-7 years. Also one of the most consistant bands ever, of course this is just my opinion but they barely have a bad song(disregarding the Blaze era i guess) and their new material stands up against their early "classic" stuff. One of the best bands ever, if not THE best.

I'm making yet more B-side compilations this week and I've forgotten how much fun some of them are.

"Noooooo, you wouldn't come on to a bloody golf course wearing a silk bloody, satin bloody, whatever the bloody 'ell it is, would yer? Well I don't care if you're a pop star..."

Hooks In You - their most underrated song. If they had cleaned up the sound a bit it would have made a great single, much better than Holy Smoke.

20 years this year for me, and I'm finally getting to see them live this year. Sure doesn't seem like 20 years, and it's just flown by since NPFTD was released. Seemed like an eternity between Seventh Son and No Prayer, though.

You'll be blown away by their live show Spiff, sure as hell was!

What I love about Maiden is they don't really have a clear standout in regard to a best album- a sign of consistency if ever there was one!

Wtf, a Maiden thread? :)

Yeah I was thinking the other day how I couldn't pick a favourite Maiden album. They have been amazingly good over a long period of time. How many other bands could still be producing good albums after so long? I'm quite a fan of the BNW and DoD....
