I read this weekend about suffragette Emily Davidson, who ran out onto the racetrack and threw herself in front of the king's horse, dying several days later from her trampling wounds.

check out her hat, slowly rolling along.

I suppose it would be a stretch to try and state that I believe this incident was the inspiration for the Led Zeppelin song, Trampled Underfoot.
