Funeral Doom

Skepticism is the greatest funeral doom band. Also you should trty to get Thergothon's one and only album. BAD production, but amazing music.

SKEPTICISM!
Thergothon
Mournful Congregation
Asunder's new one

those two are both fucking fanstastic.

There is other bands, but they really lose their sense of heaviness after a few listens, like Wreck of the Hesperus, Worship, Ataraxie, and Wormphlegm. They are good, but I nothing that I would go back and listen to over and over.

Shape of Despair (Finland):

Some people like Shape of Despair, and many don't. I think some of their songs are awesome, but in general the sound is too produced (at least on the latest album or two). The vocals have so many effects on them to sound evil that it's just lame at times. Very slow and symphonic, great crushing guitar guitar tone. Some folky influences at times.

edit: oh fuck yeah, definitely WORSHIP.

Skepticism is really the only one you need.

Im not sure about early Funeral, but word on the street is that their latest one is awesome.

The latest Funeral is so good I weep just thinking about it. I gave JayKeeley a copy, but he's a queer and hasn't listened to it yet. UM has an excellent review of it by one of our new writers. He's a very honest, straight shooting type of writer, so his opinion is usually negative unless the CD is top notch.

I'm personally not very familiar with the genre in question, but I belive Evoken's Quietus deserves a mention; not as good as eg Mournful Congregation, but still quality.

Antithesis of Light and Quietus by Evoken. Two of my favorite albums ever.

also check out Ahab or Pantheist.

I still don't own Stormcrowfleet because I exhibit overt homosexual tendencies.

EDIT: Thank you, Redstream. :)
