Gaddafi is dead

Nice one XD

On another topic... Anybody here could explain me why the fuck the names from people from those countries have 60834234 different spellings depending on the country / language / I don't know which reason? Here in Quebec (french Canada) we write it Kadhafi, I've seen Gaddafi, Gadafy, Kadafi, Qaddafi... The same shit happened with Bin Ladin, here the most common orthograph is Ben Laden, and I've seen Bin Laden, Bin Ladin, Ben Ladin...

AHAHAHAH Ben Laden, your friendly local terrorist!

There are loads of ways to translate Arabic into English, that's why there are so many differing spellings.

That is right. There is no official translation of Arabic names to English. So any news source or book publisher is free to spell those names as they wish. You usually end up with a spelling that attempts to phonetically mimic how the name sounds when spoken.

Either that or it is part of a conspiracy by Christians and Ipads. Take your pick.

Oh well, I'll have learned something today, at least. Thanks for the info, I didn't know that at all.

Yeah, the "Ben Laden" thing is pretty funny... They actually write "Oussama" as the first name, too.

Now that the videos of his capture and execution are out in public it appears the TNC are lying through their teeth about how he died.

Don't get me wrong, He was a cunt of the highest order, but a war-crime is a war-crime no matter which side you're on.
Plus, the mob responsible for killing him have denied their countrymen the satisfaction of putting him on trial and/or an official execution.

I lived a fair amount of time in Libya back in the day,. and while I am very happy to see him go I agree with what you have said. I'll just add that the NTC is doing everything they can to hide the big elephant in the room, the fact they have zero control over the armed civilians in the west of Libya. His death will leave thousands of questions regarding horrific crimes he perpetrated in those 42 years effectively unanswerable. I wouldn't be too surprised somebody ordered and paid his execution.

On Arabic transliteration (not translation) to the Latin alphabet, there are certain sounds in the Arabic alphabet which have no counterpart in Latin. The letter ق is properly pronounced as a guttural k or a stressed q (Arabic has a regular K as well with which this sound is not to be confused with), however in various parts of the Arab world the letter can be pronounced as g, or even omitted (swallowed) completely (as in Lebanon for example).

Bingo.

Although I don't think his execution was paid for, it looks like the mob simply got carried away with themselves. Which reinforces the point that these are not a professional, trained military but merely, lets be honest, armed thugs.
Their goals may be admirable but it takes more than blind outrage, cheap weapons and deranged howling to change a nation for the better.

That's what happens to Arab leaders who happen to say 'no' to oil-hungry superpowers.

Regardless of how much a c*nt the guy probably was, of course.

Gadaffi actually had a pretty good government plan. He gave everyone a house, food, jobs, free healthcare, free meds, free education. It was one of the only countries in the world to have virtually no debt since it lived off it's own production (oil), also one of the only countries in the world that didn't have a Rothschild owned bank. There are only 3 left now, as soon enough you'll see some good ol' western banks opening up there :)

This only happened because he wanted to do things his own way and refused to use american dollar as an exchange. USA, UK, NATO always have their way, if you don't comply then you'll just get killed and covered up as a pretty bad guy.

UK and Russia didn't want to have anything to do with NATO's approach against Gaddafi. Then all of a sudden, you need to choose a side, so you choose the winning side which would obviously be US/NATO, surprisignly now, Russia has contracts to rebuild the motorways, etc. It's all business, just business.

soooooo .... the people that rose up and revolted against him, that INITIATED all of this, they were actually just secretly contracted by oil hungry superpowers? :err:

Nope.

They got a big military help from them though - no enemy airforce to fight against for example.

It is all very gray there and i don't think that the average Libian citizen will feel the big change 5 years from now when all the oil money will flow out of the country.

The misery of being under a rule of a dictator will turn into a misery of being poor and hungry.
