THE NEW ALBUM IS TAKING SHAPE

We will enter Conclave Media in March 2009 with producer Bjørnar Nilsen (Taake, Helheim etc.) to record our sophomore album with the working title "Til alle heimsens endar". The album will be a little bit more epic than "Skogskvad". Phobos from Malsain will play session drums and we will also have a session musician with us to play some Cello.

The songwriting is nearly finished and we can already reveal some titles:

Paa frossen mark
Ingen siger vart vunnin
Gramr
Til alle heimsens endar

It will be a concept album evolving around the local viking kings from our home county of Vestfold. The lyrics are written by Jorge Blutaar from Drautran and are all in Norwegian. Because of this we will also include introductionary notes in english before each song in the cover.

Interested labels can contact us at galarmetal@gmail.com

Line up on the recording:

Slagmark: Grim vocals, guitars and bass
Fornjot: Clean vocals, bassoon, grand piano and keyboards
Phobos: Drums

+ Session musicians.

It's now been a while since the last update about the process around the new album. The recordings of "Til alle heimsens endar" will start on the 13th of March in Conclave Media Studio and are expected to be done by the end of the month if everything goes according to schedule.

The album will be a natural continuation of our debut, "Skogskvad", but more epic and massive! We will be joined by a string quartet for the recordings consisting of members from The Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra among others.

We will update our homepage (www.galar.no) and myspace site (www.myspace.com/galarmetal) regularly when the recordings start so make sure to check in regularly for the latest on what’s going on in the Galar camp!

We have not signed a deal for the release so if there are any interested labels out there please get in touch at galarmetal@gmail.com

We're nearly done!! Yesterday we finished recording the last bit of screams as well as mixing. There will probably be some minor adjustments after Easter and we also need to lay down some female vocals on a couple of songs, but we are 98 % done by now! The new material is just amazing and the production sounds very organic and powerful!

Even though we are more or less done with the album we have decided to wait until we have found a suitable partner to release it before we reveal some new music at myspace (www.myspace.com/galarmetal). Hopefully this won't take to long!

Tracklist:

Vàn
Paa frossen mark
Gràmr
Det graa riket
Ingen siger vart vunnin
Til alle heimsens endar

Stay tuned for more updates!

RELEASE DATE AND COVER ART!!
Finally, the new album will be released worldwide on the 1st of March 2010 by Dark Essence Records which has released the following statement:

"Norway’s Dark Essence Records has today revealed the artwork and details for the upcoming release from the recently announced signing, Black-Folk metallers GALAR. With a release date set for the 1st of March 2010, "Til Alle Heimsens Endar" will consist of eight tracks, and will be the band’s sophomore album. The title is taken from Snorri Sturluson's history of Norwegian Kings, "Heimskringla", and means "until the ends of all worlds". Track listing as follows:

1. Forspill
2. Ván
3. Paa frossen mark
4. Grámr
5. Det graa riket
6. Ingen siger vart vunnin
7. Til alle heimsens endar
8. Etterspill

Hailing from Bergen, Norway, GALAR is a two-man band that makes use of guest artists from various musical disciplines, as well as an unusual array of instruments including bassoon, grand piano, double bass, cello, viola and violin; and combines haunting melodies with blast beats and grim vocals, to produce a sound that is evocative of the traditions of both black metal and folk music. For "Til Alle Heimsens Endar" the band has produced a concept album based around the history of the Viking kings who ruled GALAR’s home county of Vestfold. Whilst the lyrics are all in Norwegian, the band has ensured that there will be introductory notes explaining the concept in English, as well as for each individual song.

Aside from GALAR members M. Kristiansen on screams, guitars and bass, and A. B. Lauritzen on clean vocals, bassoon and grand piano, the line up for "Til Alle Heimsens Endar" includes Phobos (GRAVDAL, AETERNUS, MALSAIN) on drums, Ricardo Odriozola on first and second violins, Hans Gunnar Hagen on viola, Siri Hilmen on cello, Morten Nome on double bass, and Cecile Langlie on female vox."

A new song from the upcomming album will be uploaded later this month, so stay tuned!

We would also like to add that all lyrics and comments are written by Jorge "Blutaar" Scholz. The cover design is done by talented artist Robert Høyem.

Norwegian Black-Folk metallers GALAR are streaming the track “Ván” on the band’s MySpace page, as a foretaste of their forthcoming album "Til Alle Heimsens Endar". Due for release on Dark Essence Records on the 1st March, "Til Alle Heimsens Endar" will be GALAR’s sophomore album, whose eight tracks delve into ancient history of the band’s homeland. The title of the album itself means "until the ends of all worlds", and is taken from Snorri Sturluson's "Heimskringla”, which was originally written around 1230 in Old Norse and is the best known of all the sagas that recount the history of the Norwegian Kings of old. Written by Jorge "Blutaar" Scholz, the lyrics to "Til Alle Heimsens Endar" are all in Norwegian, and the band has provided introductory notes in English, together with an explanation of each track. “Ván” can be heard at www.myspace.com/galarmetal.

Another member of the thriving Bergen music scene, and with a permanent two-man line up of M. Kristiansen on screams, guitars and bass and A. B. Lauritzen on clean vocals, bassoon and grand piano, GALAR has drafted in a set of contributors to the album that draws on notable artists from a variety of musical disciplines including Phobos (GRAVDAL, AETERNUS, MALSAIN) on drums, Ricardo Odriozola on first and second violins, Hans Gunnar Hagen on viola, Siri Hilmen on cello, Morten Nome on double bass, and Cecile Langlie on female vox. It is GALAR’s ability to mix blast beats and grim vocals with haunting melodies played on a-typical instruments, which enables the band to create an atmosphere with their music that is redolent of both traditional folk and the extremes of black metal.

Track listing for "Til Alle Heimsens Endar" as follows:
1. Forspill
2. Ván
3. Paa frossen mark
4. Grámr
5. Det graa riket
6. Ingen siger vart vunnin
7. Til alle heimsens endar
8. Etterspill
