Gamma Ray: Made of your existence

Here's how I view it:

1) Was I aware that Kai was treading some of his "Rebellion..." roots when he wrote "Armageddon"? Yes.

2) Did I realize that the chorus riff on "Heart of a Unicorn" has been used many times before? Yes.

3) Did those facts (along with many others) interfere in any way with my enjoyment of the work? No.

4) When I listen to Gamma Ray, do I feel they kick all-hellish ass? Good Lord, yes.

There are plenty of bands breaking new ground. I'm not starved for innovation in any way shape or form. I listen to Gamma Ray because it's freaking incredible, intense metal that rules all unholy hell. There's a place for that in the world, as well as many other styles of heavy music.

That being said: if you don't like it, then by all means don't listen to it. We've got enough teenie-boppin' losers out there listening to music they don't like for all the wrong reasons. Gawd. You're way ahead of the game if you simply exercise your opinion and listen to what really moves you, believe me ;)
