this snare sounds super wrong...any ideas?

Hard to make judgements about a snare when it's solo'd.
However, I bet you could use a shitload more high end. 3 to 5 k and maybe even some 8-10 k. I just did a little screwing around with WMP's EQ and a boost at 250, 4k & 8k I think really helped on the raw clip.

Is the ringing from the verb, or is it just the compresion bringing that out? It might not be a bad thing in the mix....again, it's hard to say.

ill twiddle a bit more..and it is a mix of the comp and the reverb bringing out the ring..hmmmmm...will post it in the mix later!
