Former QUEENSRŸCHE frontman Geoff Tate recently spoke to Metal Wani about the upcoming "Trinity" tour, which will see him sharing the stage with two other singers, Blaze Bayley (IRON MAIDEN) and Tim "Ripper" Owens (JUDAS PRIEST). Regarding how the idea for the trek came about, Geoff said: "Well, it started out as those guys' tour. And we ran into each other at shows and started talking about music. And as oftentimes, the invitation was there to jam. So the jamming took place, and we had such a good time, I invited them to both sing on my record. And we had a good time doing it. And then we started talking about, 'Wouldn't it be fun to do a show together?' And before we knew it, we had a plan. So 'Trinity' was born." Tate talked about his motivation for doing such a tour at this point of his career. He said: "It's really kind of a fun thing, you know? The three of us get along really well. We have a real light, easy relationship, and it's gonna be fun, I think. More than anything else, we're gonna have a good time." Geoff also spoke about what fans can expect from the "Trinity" run of shows. He said: "We have a band that we've been putting together that we'll announce fairly soon. We're gonna tour with the band and kind of split up vocal duties. We're each gonna do a set of songs that we sang with our former bands — QUEENSRŸCHE, PRIEST and MAIDEN — and then we're gonna get together and sing some stuff together as well." Asked if there are any plans for "Trinity" to play more U.S. shows in the future, or possibly take the tour to other parts of the world, Tate said: "We don't know. We're just getting together for this and seeing how it goes — if it's fun or not. I suppose if we get some more offers from other promoters around the world, we'll entertain those. But, you know, we just kind of wanted to do it to see how fun it would be. And it might turn out to be something that we continue doing. It might never happen again; I don't know. I just really don't know at this point." "Trinity" tour dates: Nov. 20 - Sellersville, PA @ Sellersville Theater Nov. 22 - Syracuse, NY @ The Westcott Theater Nov. 23 - Poughkeepsie. NY @ The Chance Nov. 25 - Londonderry, NH @ Tupelo Music Hall Nov. 26 - Annapolis, MD @ Rams Head on Stage Nov. 27 - New York, NY @ B.B. King Blues Club TRINITY was previously thrown around as a name for a proposed all-star project featuring Tate, Bruce Dickinson (IRON MAIDEN) and Rob Halford (JUDAS PRIEST). Dickinson explained in an interview that the project's original name, THREE TREMORS, was going to be scrapped in favor of TRINITY because "we figured they would sue our ass if we called it the 'THREE TREMORS.' He continued: "I actually came over to L.A. to do some writing for that album with Roy Z. We wrote about three songs, but then realized it was going to take us a lot longer than three weeks to write a project with three singers that would work. "We wanted to make each song designed to be sung by three different characters as an integral part of the song, not something like, 'You sing the first verse, I'll sing the second verse, and he'll sing the chorus.' That would be a crap way to do it." Dickinson added: "It's a bloody difficult thing to do, to try to make a song with three different voices to get the full benefit out of it. And it takes longer than three weeks, and we didn't have longer than that to do it, so I canned it in the end. "It's a great idea; everybody loves the idea… We had marketing people salivating about the idea of a TRINITY project. But the bottom line is, the thing that is gonna sink it is if the music sucks. So I thought we should can the idea for now since we don't have time to do it. Rob was in the studio doing his album ('Crucible') and Geoff was writing a new QUEENSRŸCHE album, so that was it. It is an interesting idea, and I'm sure the live show would be really interesting, so perhaps in the future it will see the light of day."
