George Lynch says that he had a "little falling out" with members of AS I LAY DYING because he revealed in an interview that Tim Lambesis had been released from prison after serving less than half of his six-year sentence for conspiracy to commit murder. In May 2014, the AS I LAY DYING singer was sentenced to six years in jail after pleading guilty to paying a San Diego police officer posing as a hit man $1,000 to kill his wife. Approximately two and a half years later — on December 17, 2016 — he was discharged from a California detention facility and was transferred to the Division of Adult Parole Operations. The news of Tim's release surfaced in February after BLABBERMOUTH.NET posted an interview with Lynch from the Monsters Of Rock cruise in which the guitarist, whose daughter was once engaged to AS I LAY DYING's Nick Hipa, discussed his relationship with Lambesis. "He just got out of jail for attempting to kill his wife," George said during the chat. "He's got a mega record deal. He's got a book deal. Everything's lined up for him. I mean, he's going to skate through life." Lynch went on to say that Lambesis "destroyed his band" and claimed the other guys in AS I LAY DYING didn't "have a pot to piss in" and were "struggling." This past June, the official AS I LAY DYING Facebook page was updated with the cryptic message "Activity," and subsequent rumors have suggested that the band — minus Hipa — was back together working on new material. Asked in a brand new interview with the "Talk Toomey" podcast if he had any more information about AS I LAY DYING's current status, Lynch said (hear audio below): "Well, I can't really address that. I got spanked a little bit for talking about that stuff. I had a few drinks on me on Monsters Of Rock cruise and Eddie Trunk grabbed me to do an interview and I probably talked about some things I should have kept my mouth shut about. But, yeah, so I would probably not be the guy to speak to you about that. I don't wanna alienate anybody or get into anybody's business." Although George declined to discuss AS I LAY DYING's possible return, he did address the aftermath of Lambesis's arrest and eventual release from prison. "I've gotta say the good guys got hurt and the bad guy was rewarded," he said. "And that's very sad, because the drummer [Jordan Mancino] played in a project that I had called SOULS OF WE for a while, and, obviously, my daughter was engaged to be married to the guitar player. And we're friends. There was a little falling out over that interview that I did, which I feel bad about, and we really haven't mended fences to this day. I hope we're able to at some point, because I have tremendous respect for them as just really wonderful, sterling, good human beings with good hearts and good minds." Lambesis was arrested in May 2013 after handing a "hitman" — really an undercover police officer — $1,000 in cash, along with his wife's address and gate security codes. The singer in 2015 filed a lawsuit against a California medical team alleging that he was not given a prescribed medication for nearly two months prior to his incarceration, resulting in him developing gynecomastia (enlarged breasts). Public records show that his lawsuit was dismissed in October 2016 with prejudice, possibly because the parties had reached a settlement agreement. Interview (audio):
