Megadeth signs with Roadrunner records. I have nothing against that move. Megadeth had started recording prior to that, so I think its just a deal to get them better advertising/promotion & distribution. However, I have a feeling that Gigantour 2 will see some of the top (and if available) metal acts that are signed on to Roadrunner records.

It would be a shame too. Guess I really should have gone to the first one when I had a chance to see that amount of variety and talent in one show.

I still think Dave's gonna get bands from ANYWHERE. Roadrunner is probably smart enough to say, "Who cares who's labels are on the bill, as long as they don't suck!"

Roadrunner's M.O. is to tightly couple the label and tours when possible. I'd expect to see Trivium, Dragonforce, and maybe someone like COF on the tour this time. Of course, it won't play in DC, anyway, so I won't see it, but none of this would raise it's appeal for me.

I don't think Megadeth's dealing with ROADRUNNER will have anything to do with who is on Gigantour. I doubt Roadrunner has in their contract with them "And you WILL bring our bands on Gigantour".

No, but they certainly might offer incentives, like a higher amount of tour support. Don't be surprised if several of them turn up on there. Dave likes money.

OPETH PLEASE :kickass:

Don't get me wrong, I like Opeth but they tour frequently enought that I can catch 'em plenty without the Gigantour. I would rather see some other bands.

I love Opeth and am one of those people that never tires of listening to them or seeing them play. To be honest though, I'd rather see them on their own than on a Gigantour just so that they'd have the time to play their epic tunes. I don't want a 45-minute set of crammed tunes.

Well if it means OPETH and DRAGONFORCE, then fine.
Though rumors seem strong enough that DF will be on the wretched SOTU tour.
DEVIL DRIVER will be fine as long as that means VENOM gets to come along!
I hope he still brings Overkill, Testament, Anthrax, and Diamond Head too!

I thought the whole point of Gigantour was to bring together the bands that Dave considered to be the "best" of several different metal genres... if he was going to use all Roadrunner bands, that wouldn't leave much room for diversity... I guess we'll just have to wait and see what he does.

The news about Dave signing with Roadrunner is quite a surprise to me. I thought Roadrunner was a label for musicians who have BALLS.

Opeth, Nightwish and Trivium for Gigantour! LOL

Isn't TRIVIUM part of SOTU? Maybe I am thinking of another band like that.

Here is another reason I can't tolerate TRIVIUM. Here is an excerpt from their singer describing the new album.

Songs include 'Ignition', 'Contempt Breeds Contamination', 'And Sadness Will Sear', 'Vengeance', 'To the Rats' and 'Contemporary Plague'. "There's one acoustic song, a SKID ROW/ MÖTLEY CRÜE-sounding song, a DEF LEPPARD, southern-rock metal song and then 11 ridiculously technical thrash songs," Heafy said.

Nothing wrong with Skid, Crue, or Leppard, but its like they seem to try so hard to cover all genres of metal all the time. How about sticking to one sound?

I get bored when a group has all their songs sound the same.

And Jasonic, how many groups do you listen to? Do you listen to a variety of music? So do musicians. Musicians tend to like a lot of different music. Why do they have to play all their music in one style? Why can't they play the variety of styles that they enjoy?

I like many genres too. But come on.....
If you were a band who plays primarily (in their words) "technical thrash", would you throw on a skid row, crue, or leppard sounding song on your album?

Nothing wrong at all with liking a variety of bands, that is a good thing.

My point was that TRIVIUM in interviews and by shirts they wear, etc. seem to constantly be trying to appeal to many genres.

Call it good marketing if you want.

Look at Strato. Their drummer obviously must appreciate SAXON right (having played on LIONHEART) Do you want the next Strato album to have a SAXON sounding song? Of course not........
