I have gotten sick of these guys, how about you?
Havin' these jerkoffs parade in their silly jumpsuits & other gear is about as silly as a 50+ year old man prancing around stage "puckering" his lips covered in red lip stick! Much like KISS, it's cool while you don't know what the people behind the masks look like, then it's just damn silly...

Slipknot are "ok" to me but nothing great. The one guy does not deserve his own signature guitar, though!

I like a few songs by them. Mick is actually quite a good guitarist. He's said before he hates playing music like slipknot and wants to do something more meaningful. So this is Slipknots last album and tour and I'm interested in seeings what he does.

I actually like over the top gimmicks. That's one of the main things that got me into King Diamond. It's not mandatory, mind you, but it's just fun. Of course some bands just use it to make up for musical quality that might be lacking a bit, and those I usually don't get into, because a gimmick is cool, but music is the most important thing. Again, that's what makes King Diamond so damn cool, he has a cool gimmick AND awesome songs.

Slipknot is fucking terrible but to a certain extent they have helped keep some form of metal in the mainstream during the darker ages Kinda like Korn did in '94 kids got into that crap and then if they were truely into metal natural progression would take over and they would discover the Real Metal under the surface so basiclly all I'm saying is they served they're purpose I suppose so lets Fucking Kill em!

my numetal friend burned me one of their cds. It was crap, I really pity the singer for his growls are not done correctly and he could get seriously hurt.

I don't mind gimmicks as long as the music comes first. Even one of my all time favorites, Accept had a gimmick. They had those militaristic stage moves with Udo dressed in camo and the rest of the band in black leather. They pulled that shit off great though. No one else could get away with it.

jonnyd is right too,they did serve a purpose in keeping metal in the mainstream

Actually, I always liked Slipknot. They got me into heavy metal (waits for onslaugt of YOU'RE NU-METAL AND YOU'RE GAY) but I think they'll be better if they dropped the gimmicks and stop trying so hard to scare people. Thomson did some solos for some Slipknot songs but their dipshit producer Ross Robinson cut them out. After the release the new album I heard they're going to call it quits.

I will never mock Germans. Too many of my favorite bands are German.

I'm not naming German bands I like, but truly some of my top bands.

Accept absolutely peeled the paint off the wall. How many bands can sing "Write a letter" with ferver and be serious about it ? Any band could, but it would sound stupid as hell. Accept did it and it sounded cool as hell.
