I miss the magic of discovery, in which I immerse myself in a band's catalogue, clinging to every note and lyric. Where's my next Iron Maiden, David Bowie, etc? Have I listened to TOO MUCH?

I stopped looking for new shit 6 months ago and only listen to what is in my collection.

What was old is now new again. And I like it this way... for now. There's my non-help!

I have 3 sources of finding new music now:

Braveboard thread that discusses the best releases of the year (friend started this is in 2013, pretty much the best thing to come out of that board in a long time)
Discogs - it has a section on the main page that advises on upcoming releases based on what you have in your collection... this works surprisingly well and has reminded me about stuff like Krownn
Facebook feed - this one barely counts to be honest, but PFL will notably post stuff that isn't on the website (that's how I knew about Bell Witch so early)

I don't actively look for stuff anymore. I am so acclimated to what I listen to I don't even know where to begin to find alternate forms of music to listen to these days. I listened to Melt Banana yesterday the first time and I don't even know what the fuck was happening.

Have you ever checked out some tight movie scores? Its kind of an under-appreciated 'genre' filled with gems. I'm an Ennio Morricone fan myself. Listen to The Ecstasy of Gold and I dare you to say its not akin to the first time you heard Maiden. Epic shit.

I toy with this idea every so often. Unfortunately, I can't help to fight my new music addiction.

Same here. We are like crackheads always trying to match that first high except we are always trying to match that feeling when we were kids getting comlpletely and utterly enthralled with an album and knowing it front to back like it was your job.
